Would I trust important/cherished photos to the cheapest memory card I could possibly find? (regardless of whether or not they include a lifetime warranty)

Personally ..... no. I'd buy one I felt I could trust not to fail.

Having said that. It's cheap for what it is so heat for that.

cheers ordered, I found someone test in last posted deal:

write 16 MB
read 20.9 MB

Thing is I get what your saying, and I'm not picking on you but 2 years ago I spend over 50 quid on an 8gb card, and although its still working, today I would think nothing of spending a Tenner on a 16gb. Just because its expensive does not mean its high quality

Look at Paris Hilton for example ....

Great price for great speed 32gb. For those worried about trusting data to a lower priced card...that's why we backup isn't it?

Just started finding it harder to prune space on my android's 8GB, so this will do nicely.

Edit: Indeed wrong card. I should be more attentive in future. Just ordered a micro, will return this when it arrives.

Just a wonderare you putting this into your phone/tablet? And it has a full size sd slot?

It just sounds like you bought the wrong memcard size. Sorry if i am wrong.

couldn't have made a better analogy myself! classic!

I'm thinking more of when it's actually in the camera and I'm away on a couple of weeks holiday.

Personally, I tend to take two or three smaller capacity cards (So even if a card does fail, at least you don't lose absolutely everything in one go!). Known quantity brands aren't that much more expensive. I'd rather pay a couple of quid extra for a Kingston card I felt I could trust.

For sticking in a phone or something, these are fine. Everything on my phone tends to be on my computer any so if the card dies it's no biggie. Just get a new one and start again.

I still tend to think of these in terms of camera usage ......

I have about 10 SD cards, of various makes and capacities (from 128Mb - when that was the biggest you could get! up to 16Gb more recently) and I've never had a problem with any of them. They've been used in various cameras, camcorders, laptops and satnavs and I've never once had a problem with any of them and that includes using the camera in both very cold conditions and in the tropics. They really are a very reliable type of memory. The branded ones are almost certainly made in the same factories as the cheaper ones.

My android phone takes Micro SDHC, and i'm waiting for the price to drop to £20 for 32Gb.

Thanks OP ordered. This'll go nicely in my new car stereo where I can store several thousand MP3's and never insert a CD ever again!

Ordered.... Ta !!
