mix with drinking chocolate

whey is a by product of the cheese making process, hence the taste.

I put a dob of smooth peanut butter in to counteract it.

Good price. Heat.

Just letting you all know you can get 1.45kg of the flavoured varieties on the myprotein eBay store for £14.99 inc del, seems a slightly better deal if you want a flavoured one

i dont think there are many people left in the world that dont know that where whey comes from
doesn't change the fact this is cheesy as hell
not sure if its particular to myprotein or not as didn't want to risk it!

Smooth Choc is the best.

I didn't. Now makes more sense on why it turns my stomach, as I have a slight dairy intolerance. Just assumed it was a side effect of protein powders

Whey still contains lactose albeit it at a lower amount, if you're lactose intolerant, take a lactase supplement and it will help.

Its not just protein, its got Ground Oats, hence why its cheaper. Oats are only around 75p a kilo..

Out of all the flavors ive tried, I would avoid banana.

The link to the ebay product is for Myprotien Diet Whey. Its not just whey protien powder its a blend much like an MRP. Just thought people may need to know that.

I'm not really experienced with this kind of stuff, saw the op and thought I might help someone

any good pre workout deals on at the moment?

This stuff is crap. If you want proper gains, get a decent protein powder and spend the extra money. Trust me.

Cheers was due some more, heat added

Whey is whey, a lot of the supplement market is just marketing to make one seem better than another

Would this be okay/correct to use to gain weight if *not* attending a gym?

Not sure if serious? Been using myprotein's impact whey for about 6 years and it hasn't stopped me making 'proper gains'.

This is just a protein supplement. If looking to gain weight you need calories. You could use this and add 400ml whole milk, 50g oats and 30g peanut butter. Blend together and you should have a decent high calorie shake.

What you need is why protein isolate. It's more expensive, but easier on the stomach for those with dairy problems as it contains basically no lactose. It also has a higher % of protein so that off-sets the price increase somewhat.

Get some coffee, that's the main ingredient of a pre-workout (caffeine).

Protein contains calories. 1g of each: Protein = 4 calories, Carbohydrate = 4 calories, Fat = 9 calories.

But yeah make your own shake, for the above recipe I'd also add a couple teaspoons of nesquick. Don't waste your money on flavoured protein, just get a few different flavours of nesquick. It's cheaper, and you aren't stuck with 1 flavour.

I completely disagree, many people at my gym including my self have been using MyProtein for years and also tried more expensive alternatives, it's on par with all the gimicky alternatives tbh, there are some huge people at my gym who have been using MyProtein since day 1. Obviously it's personal preference, and you won't actually know which one is the best until you try them all, but to down talk MyProtein isn't right..

Thanks guys, just looking at the HurricaneXS now. Mixing it up isn't going to be doable unfortunately. Thanks again for replies.

bpi 1mr can be had for about £18 at the minute. i've just bought some, only used once so can't vouch entirely, but I liked it, could be placebo of course.

Why's that? All you need is a blender bottle for £2

Either I have missed something or the link price is now £15.

Should you buy this if you are trying to lose weight or just trying to gain muscle?

I would definitely say gain muscle. Not sure if why you'd be taking this to lose weight unless you mean like a meal replacement shake?

Sorry I'm curious why'd you be trying to gain weight? The best way is to just eat as much as you can but try to keep it balanced. Obviously if you're set on using a product like this then you can buy weight gainers that have a lot of calories in one serving.

5kg still £47.95 which works out at £9.59 a kilo which is a good price.

I was thinking about getting some kind of protein shake...

But my question is does this help you gain energy for the workout?

Or just build muscle faster for after the workout?

And does it put on weight? As I'm looking to lose not gain..

Protein shakes baffle me lol

How does the lactase oral supplement survive the lactase-destroying evironment in the stomach? To do it properly you would need to add it to the shake, keep at 37DegC and incubate for at least half an hour. P.S. Sigma aldrich sell lactase for pennies dont get it from some health food rip off place
Or just get isolate and avoid lactose in the first place

Just drink coffee pre workout, then water during workout. Coffee has the dual effect of lowering appetite and giving you the 'energy' boost for the workout.
Your body with then works its way through your glycogen/fat stores in no time
