this is not cold! is a good card ! I have one!

why cold?

great idea.

Coming up as you have to pay £10 for your card unless quidco tracks then it works out at £2.50 for the card

just bought one, there was no charge, great deal

I think this deal is good you get £7.50 for free towards your holiday spending the card is free and you have to top up 10 pounds weird people voting cold without saying why? Hope this helps anyone who is going on holiday and want a safer way shopping!

can u use this back home too?

Get a nationwide credit card, only charge 1% commission and will work out a better exchange rate on purchases compared to travelex cas or this card. Plus get a nationwide current account for 1% cash withdrawls, again it will save you in the long run.

Depends where back homes is?

this is the only type of card ryanair now accept with no fees so hot for that , i have the fairfx one for that reason

Don't understand why people are voting this cold :s Doesn't cost you anything and is currently offering a better exchange rate than M&S and the post office - who are normally quite competitive. Hot from me!

This card offers reasonable exchange rate as it makes 1.25% for currency commission (compared with Nationwide Gold Card which charges 0% for Euros). Very good for those who do not have a credit card or as a backup.

I'm confused....I didn't think they charged any comission? It states on their website 0% comission? Sorry if I am being daft

Please confirm that you accept the terms and conditions...which include...

I understand that if I choose to hold a large balance on my Prepaid Card (such as £1000 or more) I accept the risks of holding this money on my card. I understand that I may lose my money if Newcastle Building Society becomes insolvent

and...

the Financial Services Compensation Scheme does not apply to my Prepaid Card.

Don't like it, sorry - cold.

I smell a rat here or is it my sense of delusion at 2:30am?!

Fair FX card I signed up to last week charged me no fee for the card plus Quidco tracked £7.50.

Newcastle Building Society are behind this card too- so why the same idea but different rules here.

Tell me if I am wrong.

On this hunch I vote cold.

Otherwise the concept of having the card is helpful in terms of avoiding admin fees while booking Ruinair flights.

There are lots of different types of commissions. For currency there is a currency conversion commission (the person who actually converts the money) and a handling commission( the person who handles your transaction from wholesale to retail). If they say no commission it probably means no handling charge (and then sometimes the "profit" is loaded onto the curreny conversion rate resulting in a poorer exchange rate - this practice is prevalent in Bureau de Change). You can gauge how little overall profit or commission that is made by comparing the rate that is loaded onto your credit card/debit card with visaeurope.com/fxc…jsp

Charges are distinguished using spin on names e.g. instead of using the word commission, they call it handling or admin charge. Then they can say that there is no commission which sounds better. For cash (real paper money) it is very reasonable to be charged 1 - 1.5% for handling of this paper money in a shop. For the absolute best deal on bank notes and especially if you live in London (but they post as well ) try thomasexchangeglobal.co.uk/ and they can be 3% better than High Street names. So for a £3000 spend overseas you could save up to £90 by using Thomas Cook.

As expected the most profit is made by credit cards like MBNA, Goldfish, .. the best ones are Santander Zero, Nationwide..

Heat from me!

That's what happens when you let Bankers and Financiers hold your money in an unregulated way by government. They escape the government laws and then when anything goes wrong you loose all your money. Bankers and Financiers always try to bring out new products to escape tax and to escape the law. They exist to maximise profit. However, this card is still very useful for smaller amounts of money like a few hundred pounds as the rates are reasonable and safer and easier to carry compared with cash. Moreover it is good for students , especially ones who don't have a credit card. Also useful for sending emergency and pocket money to gap students abroad as it will be better than using Western Union (although Western Union) is fast as money could arrive within hours rather than days in sending this debit card.

hot deal for ryanair users! Can only see that a muppet would vote this cold. WHo would hold a large balance on this card anyway? Just load it and then use it FFS!

It's a prepaid Mastercard essentially, so I hope so...I intend on using mine as normal here...Ryanair etc....

This is basically a free prepaid with £7.50 Quidco, so why is it still brrr'ing in here? :?

Pending at a penny @ Quidco though, hope it updates.

Looks good to me especially if you can avoid ryanair charges with it. Have some heat.
