N & P Gold Current Account Free Debit Card Use Abroad and Sentinel Protection

I think this is a fantastic deal for using a bank card abroad. I have had an Norwich and Peterborough account for about 2 years now and have used it in various places in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Nepal and America all free and of course you get decent exchange rates.

To have a Gold Account you need to pay in at least £500 per month. I do this, rather than change it to my main current account over. If you don't pay in this amount as a minimum, you get charged £5. There is however nothing stopping you from drawing it out a few days after. With this account you also get free Sentinel Gold Protection which is great and you register online and get card protection, protection for all your valuable documents, cover against loss of money and key protection, including locking yourself out of house/car for everyone in your household, again all details can be registered online. As long as you pay in the minimum of £500 each month there is NO FEE for this account.

There is also a Gold 'light' account which entitles you to free debit card use abroad which you don't have to pay £500 in each month, but you have to make at least '5 transactions' a month, I suppose this could be 5 withdrawal's at a cashpoint at £10 each time if you didn't want to have to pay in the £500 each month.

To my knowledge, this is the account account that lets you use your card abroad without any fees. One plus I have found too is that once you set up your account online, you can login and send a message to contact staff, so whenever I am going abroad I always advise them and get a response back and never had card blocked. Here is some blurb from the website.

GOLD CURRENT ACCOUNT

Our Gold Classic current account is intended to be your main current account with a whole lot of benefits. All you have to do is simply pay in £500 or more per month (subject to qualifying criteria and not including internal transfers from an N&P account).

Free card usage abroad No cash withdrawal and retail transaction charges or handling fees when using your N&P VISA debit card overseas. Please note an overseas ATM or retailer may add their own charge. You would be told about this at the time of transaction.

This looks like a great deal. I spend a lot of time overseas, so this could be for me. Gonna look into it as soon as the Christmas/New Year's haze has cleared. Thanks. Heat added.

I can really recommend it, I use it abroad all the time. It's not a special offer as such, it is always available but I just wanted to flag it up. I still use credit cards when booking flights for protection.

I did think that but I know I can't ask to refer people on here! If anyone wants to give me any credit for posting this deal though feel free to ask me ..... it's only for accounts opened in person though, not online.

Seems like a good deal for those that spend time abroad.(_;)

It's good but make sure you set up a weekly standing order of 1 pound going in and out so you don't get charged a 5 pound fee.

Yes, worth doing this if you go for the Gold lighter account where you need to make 5 transactions a month.
