Received 600 cans in 16 boxes today. Lounge looked like a mess. Already donated 120 cans to the local food bank & sold 120 @ 10p per can to a newly opened struggling restaurant I know of as a favour. I am pretty sure I will use 120 cans myself. So 240 left for friends & family & maybe another 120 to another local towns foodbank.

I'm normally the last person to look at a BBD but my toddler and my 7 month old baby will be eating more and more often with us so I'm a bit more cautious than usual. Apparently 100 year old canned food was tested by Americans and proven safe to eat...

Wow, that's brilliant and extremely generous. Wish I had that thought about foodbanks and bought some too.

Anyway next time there's a ridiculously priced offer .. I'm going to do the same as you have.

Haha .. I'd never eat 100 yr old (it's about the integrity of the can) , I can see why you would be cautious.. but one or two years will still be perfectly safe.
Anyone has a nice and not so well known receipe which uses tinned tomatoes? Leczo is really tasty. 6 sweet peppers, ideally red, deseeded and chopped up. 2 tins of tomatoes, 1-2 onions, a bit if garlic won't harm, 500g of polish sausage, chopped up. A teaspoonful of paprika, Knorr ham stockcube(s) Stew for 1hr, thicken with cornflower and serve with pasta. Mmmmm. It's freezable too.
