These are great fun!

Includes small plactic magnifying glass, collection vial, wooden stick and large antquarium

The Antquarium uses Space-Gel developed for NASA and used on the Space Shuttle Mission.

The space gel is perfectly balanced for ants nutritional needs and the perspex container provides a harmless viewing chamber and temporary home as the ants burrow and go about their business.

It is advised that ants are caught and housed in the Antquarium for up to 10 days and then released.

Size (H)19, (W)25, (D)5.5cm.

For ages 3 years and over.

Excellent find, again have wanted one of these for ages. Voted hot.

Reserved one in Exeter for tomorrow, thanks.

Always wanted one of these as a kid... ive dipped my banana in this one!

Thanks reserved 2 in Leeds

amazing price.

I had one last year.. i kept mine for about a month before they started dying, so i let them go..

you can either find the red/black ants in the garden (the regular black ants dont survive for some reason) or send of for a little vial of a specific breed that are good for keeping..

Brill was looking for something like this over xmas, am i the only one wondering where the ants are bought from? Aquarium, Pet shop maybe?

Two quick questions. How do you get the ants out of there? Also how long does the gel last (do you just keep reusing it with new ants)?

work in an outdoor education centre so this could be really good to show the kids if it works... voted hot!

If the ants are alive, you can just take it outside and leave it open and they will crawl out. if they are dead, the other ants tend to take the dead ants to the surface, so you can spoon them out.

These don't last forever though. I had mine for a couple years before using it, and by the time I did, the gel had compacted and come away from the sides/shrunk lower in the container by quite a bit.

Thank you - nice find for my boy's friend's birthday presents!

Wow always wanted one of these didn't know you had to collect your own ants, no good till Spring then at least? Couldn't they just supply the eggs in "status" :-D oh I'm 24 still going to love doing this, will give it to my Mum though when I'm bored of it as she's a science teacher at a secondary school.

yep ive ordered 2 and now im wondering where to get some ants from, wound. any ant experts out there to share some tips?

We had one for the kids last year, after a month it went in the dustbin.

It don't do what it says on the box. Not only can the ants escape through the air holes, they all die within a few days. It looks a right mess with dead 'uns in the gel.

I'm sure this was only £7.49 (ish) before Christmas. !:?

just ordered one for my nephew's birthday in a few months - great buy - heat and rep added!

Thanks! just reserved one

You need to find the european ants not the british ones http://bestsmileys.com/music1/4.gif

Can you fit small kids into these aswell.........great! ;-)

you shouldnt be using captured british ants, they cant survive in the environment.

when you get the antquarium theres a leaflet included that states where to buy a small vial of 'turbo ants'

i got mine from here -

Are you suggesting it is not Adam and the Ants that we need?

This is cruel ... Join the 'Ants Liberation Front' now! .... or the 'Peoples Ant Liberation Front' now! ....or ....

Monty Python I know but .......just cant resist.

People off to Wikipedia now for pictures of European ants and British ones hahahahahah!
