Muting the conversation now Gary, sorry.

Oh dear.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why Credit Card deals need to be explained more clearly on these sites.

People see these offers as “free money for XX months” and don’t understand the terminology used (balance transfer, purchase offer, money transfer etc. ) and, as per this example, assumes a balance transfer means transferring money to a current account from a credit card.

Wrong on all levels.

PLEASE be vigilant.....

I've done it before with another credit card balance transfer to my current account when I bought my car so I've personal anecdotal evidence that it can happen and I wasn't punished pejoratively for it. I appreciate your concern though and maybe it'll help someone else.

You’re confusing a balance transfer with a money transfer or even a cash advance if made on a card that doesn’t offer money transfers as a product.

This will incur daily interest and transfer fees, so anyone reading should NOT use a credit card in such a way unless the card is marketed for such a purpose.

Dosent seem to be any catches at all, good deal.
Does anyone know if I can transfer a large amount say 5k from another credit card and pay it off over 20 months? Thanks
The limit on the credit card they give u has to be at least 5k for u to transfer that amount over

Yes that’s the balance transfer. So you would transfer from that 5k credit card to this one and have 20 months to pay it off with 0% APR
My non NatWest account having self is out of luck for this one.

Yep. Transferred a couple of high interest rate card to this Natwest card to get the zero percent. Then you just need to think about your payments... Take the outstanding balance and divide that by 20 months and see if you can stick to that payment to avoid interest. Of course, dont spend on top of that!
I got one last week and did a balance transfer which has to be over phone. Security questions very tight which is good and went through OK. Operator even divided amount by 20 and asked if I wanted to setup a DD for the monthly amount.
Looks good, long promo periods are getting scarcer, not too many in excess of 20 months nowadays.
Was mentioned on the Martin Lewis show yesterday if I'm correct?
Looks a good deal.. Giving it serious thought!
So could you purchase items on a old credit card and do a bal transfer with this card?

Yep.. a lot of transactions on my older cards were purchases at a high interest rate. Transferred the lot over to my Barclaycard. You will incur a transfer fee and you need to do a balance transfer within 60 days of starting the new card. Once you have done it then you have 20 months at 0%

Yes you can. Just enter your other card details when applying for this card and it will automatically take care of it at the backend. Looks very decent offer.
For anyone in my position, I've just balance transferred £1200 from my years old preexisting Natwest CC onto a new one using this deal so absolutely happy days.

Seems a bit self-defeating for Natwest but I'm not complaining . Possibly because this is my second card the credit offer was about 5x lower than my limit on my original card - which might affect some people but can say with some confidence you can do CC - CC transfers. Hope that helps someone.
Thank you for this, just transferred an overdraft and this now means I can pay without interest being dumped on top...much appreciated!

This card has no balance transfer fee.
Got this card about 3 weeks ago through the app. Very straight forward application and was told my limit there and then.

Had my card within 3 days and the balance transfered over in a week.

Best part of this is that why they advertise is what you get

Looked like it to me. It just asks you to put in the card number and amount to transfer in, and you get a number of different boxes to put the details in so presumably you can split it how you wish.
Cue the "time travel" comments but the offer was 23 months not that long ago.

Not voted either way.
If I transfer over a balance during set-up, how long does it take for this to transfer over?

You’ll probably find it will be rejected as you cannot transfer balances between the same card issuers

You can’t transfer an overdraft to a credit card.
Good timing, my Barclaycard BT is ending soon so was looking for somewhere to shift to. Got offered £16,300 credit limit but my application has been referred "for more information" - not sure if that's because of the time (I thought the cutoff was around 11pm for automated approvals) but we'll see. I remember my Barclaycard application was also referred - perhaps I need to apply for credit in hours

Be interesting to see, as I got a confirmation message implying it was all done and dusted. I actually saw, post-application that the offer was there in my app too.

I was just about to ask if I could do this, I've never had a credit card and this seemed a really good offer. Wanted a credit card more for the added pretection when making purchases and wouldnt use it to run up debt.

*just to add my overdraft is with Nat West.

They’re usually processed post-application.

No lender allows Balance Transfers between the same card issuers or the same family of issuers e.g Natwest to Natwest, HSBC to First Direct etc.

It's no massive biggie as I can just transfer to my non-Natwest current AC and then fire it back via the third party

Will report back once they report back...

Transfer what to your current account?

You get 3 months to balance transfer, so if what you're saying happens does end up manifesting itself, then I'll just transfer what I need to my CA after the fact and then pay the balance that way.

If it doesn't end up happening whatsoever then I'm not going to lose any sleep about it. It's just a small amount that I cba paying off at the moment as I've got a massive roofing bill coming my way soon.

A balance transfer isn’t where you transfer money to your current account.
You need a Money Transfer card for that.

A balance transfer is for transferring a credit card balance from one card to another.

This pretty much sums up everything you were trying tell him/her - it's there in black and white on the front page of the application screen. There's no helping/telling some people sadly. When he/she gets hit with a cash advance fee they'll probably regret not taking a bit more notice.
