Hello fellow Android users!

I love my Google Maps but every time I'm abroad I had to give it up because I can't do roaming. Luckily, there is a free app with offline (i.e. onboard) maps that comes with professional quality and decent maps for UK and Europe and many other, and plenty more are in the pipeline...

Apple users have had NavFree for some time and they're apparently very happy with it. It turns out there is an Android version after all, however for some reason it's not on the Market but rather seems to be exclusive to Expansys. (direct link right below this post)

I installed it works fine but says that only valid till 20/09/2011 so that's only 5 days and asks me to register it. any help please.
Just tried it and it works great. I really like the night mode and everything is clear and very easy to use. I didnt see any where saying its valid upto a certain date. I did register my email address after installation.
It is add supported, but will no doubt come in handy when google can't get signal!

All up and running on my HTC Desire, postcode search works, but house numbers don't.
Wonder if it works with Andriod 2.3.3 build 3.14 from htcdev.com/dev…ads

Are safety cameras on it or can they be put on?

Sadly no they're not pre-installed on this version, and so far because it seems to be a pre-version or a beta, you can only install the UK/ROI map and the UK postcode database.

One to watch though as those features are available on other platforms along with maps for the rest of the world. So far I am extremely impressed, especially by the quality of the maps and the fact that they contain every single country road, earth track or even pedestrian pathway or footbridge...

i used that in HTC desire and work great.but unfortunately not working in … i used that in HTC desire and work great.but unfortunately not working in Samsung Glaxy S2. not sure why

Yeah, strange, works fine on mine.
Downloading it for my Desire HD in the hope it gets Europe maps and US maps. Infact in Googles Navigation allows you to pre-cache a 10mile radius of maps if you are going abroad so this better be good when they release the Euro maps.
absolute rubbish....doesn't work. Downloads, installs then refuses to start. Just pay for one, much more simple.
Works perfectly on a Samsung Galaxy S2. Actually, I prefer it to Copilot V9, which even though I posted the deal on here, is actually very poor for a paid product once you start using it regularly.
seriously 50mb for a sat nav app?
why so big when the likes of copilot are 15mb?
Installed OK on Sony Ericsson Experia Arc. I missed the link to the Android v.2.3 and used the 2.2 version only to get a black screen. But once I noticed the 2.3 version, it installed and works like a dream. Thanks Kidson. Brilliant find and thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kiddson, great app.

I got this too. I downloaded the map pack and went back to the main screen and it all just populated.

Works great on my Xoom.Thanks

Me too. Although I can't see using my Xoom as an in car GPS. In car movie player maybe.
Running fine on my OSF running Swedish Spring. Title says it includes European maps - how do you get those, as I don't see them as freebies in the store?
Downloaded this OK, on a HTC Wildfire, but as per the title I wanted the USA maps, are these not available as it only shows UK & ROI map or postcodes to download from the Navfee store.

Any other options for a USA or California map for Android?
Great find. Many thanks. Google Maps Navigator sucks the 'electron' balls from my little, HUKD sponsored (seemly), battery. GMN lasted about 2hrs on my SF. Luckily I was half way round the M25 and almost home from my grand adventures when the SF snuffed it! Fingers crossed NavFree can step up to the mark without being so power crazed hungry.
Why has this been expired? It's still available for free in the Android Market
I have installed the 2.2 version. When I went into the Navfree Store there was only Ordnance Survey Postcodes there... I grabbed that, but does that mean I haven't got maps yet? I've been out in the garden for a while trying to get it to use it's GPS, but it came up with a blank screen so I'm thinking I haven't.

Wondering how I get maps? Also so far I can't see where I put in coordinates... (for geocaching) Does it only go to the coords that are set in the geocaching app, after being opened up by that?

Looking forward to getting this working. Google Nav was OK but it's been winding me up a treat talking miles all the time.
