except this one is 4.3" not 3,5", :whistling: and strangely enough the last time details for a 4.3" model were posted...it was more expensive than this...so is this not a "new" and "better deal"?

Yes, I agree, this 4.3 inch unit has not been on here recently and £60 is a good price for it. Don't confuse with smaller 3.5 inch unit. Given some heat

i got one of these for about £60 last time, great unit!
I couldnt get TomTom to work on it so put something one of the other programs on it and it works great! I actually prefer it to the 3.5" one that i have with TomTom!

its easy to run tom tom 6 on this and turn in to a handheld pc

Don't forget Navigon 7 - Runs great on this

i got this for 80 a few months ago, this price drop is good and makes it worth every penny.

the screen is nice and big

i have tom tom 7 working on it perfectly

does anyone know if this does 'safety' cameras?

if it runs tomtom yes it does

running tom tom isnt too hard but for some it maybe

when you have it running the chances of it messing up are very very slim

hope this helps

if i can't put tom tom on it. can i restore back to the original software?

thanks

yes just look at the forums and it will tell you how

ok thanks

Had mine a few days now.

The unit appears to be solidly built and better quality than I had expected at this price point. The screen is clear and easy to read (even in direct sunlight). It can take a few minutes to lock onto a GPS signal, but this is the case for most Satnavs.

No bluetooth or means of receiving traffic updates, but it would be seriously unrealistic to expect these for £60!

Tried it with TomTom 7, IGO8 and MioMap 3. All work well and are easy to install (no hacking of the unit is required). There is a download available that will allow you to have all three of these installed at the same time (along with a number of applications and games).

If you are willing to install alternative GPS software then this really is a tremendous buy. However, if you would only use the supplied software, you should probably pay a bit more and get an entry-level TomTom or Garmin (the GPS software supplied with the Navigo really is awful).

TurboDog is really a dog. IMO don't buy this if you are not going to do the switcheroo.

Took a week for this deal to heat up - but deservedly so

Still in stock.

does anyone know a good replacement mount kit for the 3.5" version? I got it through here from wh smith and the mount just won't stick to the windscreen.

My father borrowed mine when he used it and he got a part that replaces the suction cup so it can go on a fan vent on the dash

So instead of: suction cup -> intermediate clip -> satnav
it goes : vent clip -> same intermediate clip -> sat nav

Cost him £5 I think

Great unit, I got TT V6 on mine, will upgrade it in a bit I think with maps, not done it for a while

These are fabulous. I have several of the 3.5" version for friends/family and as a previous poster commented you can run TomTom, iGO8 (my personal favourite) and MioMap without 'hacking' the unit - they just run off the SD Card.

I like iGO8 because it does not need cracking with keygens etc, does text to speech (says the name or road number in full), shows mini motorway road signs indicating which lane to use, calculates your average speed between average speed cameras (no other system does that I know of), will continue to warn you if you are overspeed approaching a camera site and shows a graphic 3d representation of landmarks (buildings) - cool.

sorry mate but not seeing any downoad links (only help etc.) do i need to be registered to see them?

its a very good price and believe me its lot easier to install tomtom. the basic rule is that dont use the originalcard which came with it as you dont want to play with warranty. buy another 2Gb Sd card atleast to install the tomtom software.

Possibly, when I go to help forum it is one of the boxes almost at the top of the page.

cheers blackrat, to answer my own question yes you do need to be registered.

Actually the old TomTom 6 is easy but now getting out of date BUT iGO8 is as easy and MUCH easier than TomTom 7 as it does not require 'cracking' to use the maps which TomTom 7 does. Also iGO8 has some great features that TomTom does not - as per my earlier post, such as average speed camera calculation, text to speech, lane guidance (with motorway signs - available on tomtom with 'expert' tweeking and you then lose some sounds), 3D buildings pictures on map, continual overspeed camera warning - all absent on the harder to install TomTom 7.

The original files are available to download on the site I posted so you don't need to keep the original program on the card - you can re-install if you have a warranty issue.

i found igo hard to use, maybe it was a initial thing, but the icons are small and all over the map screen, i do think its more powerfull but harder to use initally.

will take some getting used to,

hii someone mentioned you can put tomtom software on this and it will work.

i have the a tomtom v2, am i able to put the newer software one which will have speed camereas etc etc on this tomtom?

Thank you

Could someone PM me please with how to load TT7 onto this device, I would like to know how difficult it is to load and if my computer skills are up to it?

Thanks

This definitely seems like a good deal for a satnav system. However I am completely new to this field of technology. For someone who is familiar/comfortable with hacking it to run a better set of maps, (i.e. TomTom, etc) would this be an ideal satnav machine for your basic route planner. I only need it as a good reliable/easy to use route finder planner. Functions such as bluetooth and fm transmitter would just be bonuses, but not requirements.

So is this the one to go for?

Original Poster

this good for route planning plus it plays mp3 and mp4, im not sure what are the main benifits for bluetooth an fm tranmitter.

basic route planner this will be worth while.

Go to this website and join up (it's free) thepctailor.com/

Go to the downloads section, and download the "MENU_V2" file. Unzip the download and copy it all over to your SD card. Put the SD card into the Navigo and away you go. There's a README.TXT in the download which explains all this, but if you can unzip a file then you'll be fine.

If you're pc-literate enough to post a message onto a forum, then you'll be able to do the above!

I bought the 3.5" Navigo a while ago and I'm delighted with it.

This looks like just what i'm after especially if it can use TomTom. The £61 is worth it just to save the arguments :-P

Hopefully it lasts longer than the PDA I bought with TomTom on.. must have used it on 6 trips over a long period of time then went to use it again and battery was toast. Nice waste of £130..

Received mine this morning. First impressions, as others have mentioned, very sturdy piece of equipment. I havent gotten round to installing different maps as of yet.

One question, does this model support sdhc cards? Would like to buy a 4gb card for navigo.

Not getting on with the Sat Nav software mind seems pretty poo, have to try and get TomTom on it.

Need to work out how to get into WinCE too..
