Before you automatically blurt out "This is rubbish cos it's not TomTom", or assume people that do are automatically right, I own one of these and I love it!! I bought mine for £99 last Christmas. No there are no flashy arrows for your lane guidance - but I'd find those distracting. Also oooh, no sorry you don't get a picture of a little car - precisely what benefit does that feature bring? You also can't add custom voices as far as I'm aware. This also fails to trouble me.

This comes with free lifetime map updates, and does pretty much all the things you'd want a modern Sat Nav to do. Yes the processing is a little slower than the top 2 brands but no it does NOT take "5 minutes to start up" as some bizarre reviews have claimed. I love my Navman and for just £60 for not just UK and Ireland but the whole of Europe mapped - find me better value.

*Just edited the original price as I had quoted the reduction margin. I can 100% assure you it WAS £199 in store - just quite a long time ago :P

It looks like a kids toy - 'my first sat nav'
Lifetime maps is good though... that the only positive thing I feel I can say.

Seems like a good deal for the whole of Europe and lifetime updates.

Hot for me - Only women drivers (and the occasional Truck driver ) need lane guidance . Free Lifetime maps -Bargain !

I need to make it clear it does have lane guidance - and personally I like it - but you can turn it off. You also can't make hands-free calls through it ohh noooo - now you can't be just as distracted as if you were holding the phone to your ear! (_;)

Mapping for the whole of Europe..? I'd say for £60 that's fairly cheap. I'm basing all my positivity from actually owning and using one, not from what's been posted on review sites about it.

Seems cheap and worth it I guess...just make sure you can get one first!

I have reserved one but before i buy it does anyone know what the maps are - is it navteq, the same as the Garmins use?

Not sure about that side of it I just put in location and it works This has points of interest and all that kind of stuff. You can also punch in stuff like "Harvester" and it'll find the nearest one. I realise the display looks like the first poster said but it does still do all that I want.

Have done my research and it uses TeleAtlas (I think the same as Tom Tom) so its not for me unfortunately as its mapping isn;t anywhere near as good as navteq in for Ireland.

If anyone in NI looking one of these and can't get one I have a reservation for Halfords, Downpatrick if anyone needs it.

Interesting. Personally I'm not interested in who does the mapping I'm a bit more interested in whether it gets me to my destination. But that's just me.

The Tom Tom don't get me to my destination because the mapping isn;t good enough in Ireland - so my interest in the mapping is to make sure it gets me to my destination.
If this was navteq wwould have bought as its a bargain price - design, make etc aren't really that relevant as long as it works best where you live.

Ah. I've had 0 issues with mine but I've never been to Ireland.

Don't know how old that one is. But I know I was happy enough to pay £99 for mine. I'd have been over the moon to pay £60 for it!

Reserved, but no where near RRP as suggested.

Also available for £3 less here

Well it certainly has been well over £100 in Halfords before now. I just wish I still needed a larger screened sat nav.

Cannot find any specs for this even on Navmans website, deleted model? Does this have Bluetooth and SD card support? Thanks.

OP's sarcasm is making me want to push that down vote button so badly..

note these are probably ex-demonstration models

wouldn't buy from Halfords again, bought 3 in the past , similar deals, all 3 times incorrect leads and on one occasion the mio sat nav had already been registered by someone else previously

not voting because of my experience with them, but good deal if you get everything in box

Err....never been sold an ex-demo from any shop unless it's in a reduced section and clearly labelled. Just take it back and ask for a new one if you are - simple. And in my experience Halfords staff couldn't be more helpful.

That's.....such a valid reason for voting a deal down. (_;)

Went to pick mine up yesterday.. it was recommended by a friend of mine. This is my first, but for £60 it can't be bad...

looks a good deal voted hot but my advise is get a nokia windows phone with free sat nav software

My advice is to not even bother wasting your time with crappy attempts at being a sat nav on a phone - even if it's not this sat nav that you end up getting. A colleague used to use his iphone for it's attempt at this and after borrowing my sat nav (which is this one) he says it's 10x better.

it isn't tomtom i have no idea why anyone would buy anything else especially now tomtom are doing life maps on most units

I see the first line of my description was somewhat wasted on you then....:p However true this may be they're not doing one for £60 with ROI and Europe maps too, are they.

Dont forget 3% TCB. Mine tracked before I had picked it up in store.
Got to be worth it for £60

I have never driven in Europe and probably never will.I have though owned a navman mio and a garmin both were awful. My current tomtom was bought on ideal world for 89 quid has 5 inch screen slim case and life time UK and Ireland maps where I drive regularly.worth the extra 29 quid in my opinion

Much fairer comments than "it's not a TomTom"! I'm unlikely to drive to Europe either but there's plenty of people here who would do I reckon.

I have all 3 times, it was on 3rd occasion that a really nice lady in the store told me that al the cheap ones are ex-demo

have to say the sat navs were in good condition but wrong leads on 2 , and they didn't have the correct charging leads, and one couldn't register as someone had already done so

customer services at their headoffice could give a ****

Sorry you've had bad experiences but when I got my £99 it was cheap cos......it was cheap. Brand new item. They'd have to have a hell of a lot of ex-display models to fulfil orders for these wouldn't they? Particularly as it's listed on their site at that price as well. I'd try getting it sorted out at a more local level - just go in there and ask for a new product.
