Navman F20 has larger screen (3.5") compared to Garmin C510 (2.8"). Europe Mapping DVD is a + with C510

I have one of these and highly rate it as a Basic GPS

good wee models these as basic satnav, its doesent have a full post code search however and l dont know why it says that, you enter the first 4 digits so it has a rough idea of where your going and then you enter a street name and number (if you know the number) at that price its twenty quid cheaper than halfords are currently doing.

Can you load a speed camera database on to this? And if so, how much would that cost (with updates)?
Thanks
Ady

Erm...it says 8-digit postcode input. Read some reviews and they say the same. :?

Just be aware, a lot of users are finding that since yesterday their SatNav systems cannot find Manchester anywhere in Europe...

It appears to have the camera database already on..

But to update its about £30.. check the navman site for prices of maps etc.. there not cheap but no worse than any of the other makes.

Full postcode search is a BIG +. I use iCN 330 which can be a pain sometime

Many thanks for this, I too have been waiting for a sub-£100 deal on this. I have a TomTom but wanted something to trick out my Vespa ;-)

You can Update the Speed Camera Database from PocketGpsWorld for £3

l sell them at work mate and to be honest i've never once been able to get a full postcode to work on it. Also its worth noting for those who buy them who live in Scotland (like l do) that Scotland maps are switched off as standard on these models incase you think that your sat-navs a dud when you switch it on.

I bought an F20 from Halfords for £129.99 courtesy of this site back in December 2006.
Can't fault it as a basic SatNav.
Postcode search DOES go to 8-digits (on mine, anyway) and speed camera database is built in.

which speedcamera database does the navman use?

Does it still beep annoyingly when you are travelling under the speed limit ?

The file types are '.asc'

How does this compare to the TomTom? Is there really any difference between the 2 that justifies the price difference? Or is the TomTom just extra because of its reputation?

In my opinion I think that it's the name that your paying extra for.

I got the Garmin Streetpilot C510 for only £89 last week and I'm thrilled with it

Got one of these for Christmas. It does do a full postcode search, however there was /is a bug whereby when you set up your preferences during initial switch on you must select to load ALL UK maps, otherwise the postcode search will not allow you to enter all digits.

Also, when I bought the Connectivity Kit and connected my Navman to the net, I was offered a FREE speed camera update, to update the information already pre-loaded.

Managed to load some extra POI's too from a website offering them for free.

Recommended.

Navman Beeps only when you exceed the manually configured maximum speed limit, which comes at 70mph as standard.

The speed limimt beeps can be switched off.

I recommend the F20.

Full Post Code search has worked every time
Speed cameras alerts are indeed built in to the F20.

i bought this for my girlfriend as a bday present and was amazed to discover that the postcode search feature doesnt allow a house number to be entered afterwards. It seems to pick a ranfom house number on the street near the postcode. House numbers only seem to be available in the street name search. Thats just rubbish compared to tom tom.

The other thing which seems poor is the POI support. I put in chester as an area and asked for hotel POIs nearby and i came up with locations in liverpool and manchester and all over the place to be honest many of which are not hotels.

Also once a route is entered although it gives a txt decription of the route it doesnt seem to be possible to view on the map the whole map of the route or to move the map around like tomtom can.

It doesnt seem to do way points either.

All in all it seems a bit rubbish even for 117 quid.

Her previous garmain i3 which has a worse screen and isnt touch sensative is more useable in reality.

Hopefully they will take this back.

Well, I bought one of these for my girlfriend, we live in Glasgow and have ALWAYS been able to get a full postcode search with this model.

Also the full UK maps (including Scotland) were installed and working from the first time the unit was switched on without having to change anything.
