Wow - Magic Earth (cr*p name) beats them all - my new go-to
Oh, and it's easy to set Google Maps announcements to alerts only.
Odd, on my iPhone 5s Google Maps is less laggy - shows upcoming turn-offs more accurately - than Navmii. Whenever I switch to Navmi I always miss a turn-off before getting used to the way it shows the nearest junctions as seemingly 50m away when you are nearly on top of it.
looking into this further and compareing side by side my tomtom, it looks lik enavmii is crowd-sourcing data ASWELL as inrix data so it seems to pick up a few more jams. Google maps has never run well on any mobile ive owned, by the time it tells me to take exit ive taken one it suggested, then reroutes because it meant the one after but hadnt updated the gui. Plus, it talks too much. Waze and google both thought a road was closed, yet TomTom knew it was still open.
Since my Tomtom traffic sub expired I've happily used Google maps with downloaded map sections for my commute as the traffic updating seems excellent. You can almost 'see' if there's a traffic queue round the next bend. For long journeys I use Navmii with it's inbuilt England map.
