Game is being developed by Criterion (Makers of Burnout Paradise) so I personally am very hopeful about this game compared to the last few. It should be great

Everywhere else is £40+

This is being developed by Criterion (the developers of the Burnout franchise) so it should be very good unlike some of the other recent NfS's.

cant wait

Awful franchise of games the last one was dire.

Agreed - Criterion had better not screw it up. "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2" on the Xbox was probably the best game in the series IMO.

I will personally be keeping a 'very' eye on this one.

great stuff. need for speed hot pursuit 2 on the ps2 was the best driving game i've played and i'm well chuffed that the need for speed franchise is going back to it for the ps3. fingers crossed it's as good as the ps2 version.

NFS 3 or Most Wanted were definitely the best in the series.

Hi All Been Beta Testing this one ! Realy good game. One for the game collection I think..

You don't mean NFS: World do you?
I've been playing the last 3 sessions, it's growing on me.

Isn't it funny how everybody rubbishes this franchise, but has a favourite that they consider to be better than all the others in the series... and many people have different favourites!

PS. "]Need for Speed shifting 100 million units"

Just out of interest, does anyone still pay full price for games these days? I seem to pick most of my games up for less that £20 these days....(and i've still got about half a dozen unopened games to play!)

I like to keep the economy going once or twice a month, but it seems to be the opinion of many people now that paying "full" price is something only others do.

Looking towards the pre-owned market, or waiting for titles to come down in price, has prompted the video games industry to look at other ways to generate revenue (downloadable content/micro-transactions, &/or additional costs for going online, and so on).

However, some publishers are looking at setting recommended retail prices at a much lower point on the day of release but with cut-down versions of the game titles where game-play duration can be increased by spending additional funds in downloadable content.

I have to say though I have my concerns.

For a start, it must have free roam or else it will be crap. And not just free roam like previous NFS titles cause they sucked as there were no jumps, car parks, ramps, train tracks, airports, bridges, offroad cars, superbowls, super jumps etc. It needs to have a proper environment that isn't just roads. Secondly, what makes burnout so good is the online gameplay. Besides from the free roam which is awesome even online, it has cops and robbers, challenges. stunt runs, marked man, races etc etc. The last cop NFS (undercover) just had rubbish stuff like races and highway battle.

Hence, I have a problem. Burnout has set a high standard which will be tough to beat. Already im comparing it to burnout but at the end of the day, it can't just live up to being as good as burnout. It needs to be better or have something burnout doesn't which justifies buying it. Considering I actively play burnout (still, 2 years later which is credit to its replay value), there's no point in me buying a new racing game unless its better.... and creating a game which is better than burnout is no easy task

Totally agree mate. NFS 3 - Hot Pursuit was the best and I would be happy with a rework of that game, let alone this new one

Criterion was born to pick this title up but I fear that Burnout lovers (me included) will have to get used to a more realistic and gritty race experience. NFS 3 Hot Pursuit on the PS1 was so cool at the time. Remember the sound of the tyres blowing from a stinger??..in Dolby Surround. I waited for Hot Pursuit 2 for months but returned it for a refund the moment I saw barrels falling from helicopters!? Arcade game maybe..Simulation- not!
With Criterion managing to capture the liscenses for some of the fastest cars in the world you are not going to see them boosting every few seconds..but you will see Takedowns. The teaser trailor has given us an insight into what Criterion have in mind for the tracks..high speed, not turn turn turn..well hopefully.
One addition I would like to see is this NFS is the equivelent to Free Roam (ala Red Dead Redemption). So much could be done with that in a game like this. Suffice to say Nov 19th and 22nd have been booked off work!. Assassins Creed Brotherhood is out the same day..chill out to that later on!. You see, life can be good ..

Hot Pursuit is not setting out to beat the Burnout series at anything mate. Burnout is Arcade - Hot Pursuit will be a Sim (well hopefully)

most wanted still the best nfs, played hot pusuit last night for hours. it's good but its not most wanted! its a shame but im still buying it somewhere on friday though.
