Well, at least Asda is limiting to one per customer whereas Tesco reportedly sold 15 to a single customer from an employee here who shared his story.

I mean, 15? Of course they went straight to Amazon/eBay.

Whatever the case. It's good that it got through. I trusted Zavvi to fulfil my order since I ordered really early and they failed.

Argos probably has some stock here and there but not worth losing sleep over it.

why are these selling so well ?

Officially produced by Nintendo. If it was some crap by AtGames there'd be loads available.

It is a classic, one of the best consoles ever made. Believe it or not it contributed and helped shape your PS/XBOS gaming.

Not sure why but something is telling me thats to do with the fact it was made in the 80's and this recently...

I ordered mine the last time Asda had some preorder stock - ordered on the 17th Nov for the 28th Nov stock. Still waiting - no despatch email yet and customer services keep emailing, to my query on delivery, to apologise for not getting back to my query!?!

This is junk why would u waste money on it

I wouldn't call it junk, but I do question why there's so much hype to it. It's just a small board with a very tiny list of licenced emulated roms.

I mean the console in general. I loved growing up on the snes, I wouldn't go out and buy a mini version of it with a handful of games and no way of adding more.

I'm not seeing what everyone is seeing in these retro remake consoles. I'm just curious what others think of them.

Wow - £115 in cex for a boxed one. Steep compared to RRP.

I did get the 2 I ordered form Asda last time a day late on the 29th. I got email dispatch notes for both shipments.

It's a desirable gadget released close to Xmas, and was released in pretty limited stock. I don't think it's so much "selling so well" as the demand hasn't been met so a lot of hype has been built around it, making it more desirable.

I saw that, mate. I'm just hoping they get enough stock to fulfil the orders. I am expecting them to get back with something concrete either way today. i have heard that most sellers are hoping to get bulk stock by the middle December to fulfill all orders across the board. Here's hoping......

It's a lovely thing. It has 30 games, most of which being must owns for the NES, a modern, remade original pad, outputs to HDMI with the option to turn on scan lines, and decent sound.
I think it's selling well because (but not limited to....)
Retro gaming is huge at the moment, probably due to the age of people playing these games nowadays and having lots of disposable cash,
Rose tinted glasses
Modern AAA video games being fairly unapproachable for non-gamers.
An original NES with those 30 games would cost a LOT more nowadays.
Ease of use.
Not everyone wants to steal their games, or waste time messing around with a Rasp Pi (or Wii, or PC, or whatever you want to do emulation on...)

It's easily the nicest of these TV plug in games I've seen, and is probably worth it for the cost of a modern LE game..

I ordered mine on the 30th November with a pre-order date for more stock on the 6th December (yesterday) but it's now showing as the 13th for the delivery date.

Come on it was good in its day and has some retro appeal but are you really gonna spend hours on it now?
It will be back in stock at some point, no point paying over the odds. Typical Nintendo under releasing.

This is just emulation so no point getting worked up over it. It's legal emulation but eh, emulation.

...no one is getting worked up about anything? Someone asked for others opinions on why these are so popular and I answered..

Emulation or not, it's an easy way to play these games on a modern TV with a controller as good as the original and as such I'm glad it's popular. Playing games with an inferior controller is a crap experience that can put people off.
Messing around with ROMs and emulators, or modding consoles etc. is fine for some, but the majority want plug and play.
The legality comes into it somewhere, but I'm not debating that as it's been done to death all over the internet.

For the record, I have a couple of original NES and maybe 15 of the 30 games already.
I also have a soft modded Wii capable of playing all NES games and obviously also using the pads from the NES classic.
I have a PC, and a ROM set somewhere.
I have some of the games on my 3DS, and some as GameBoy Advance carts.
I have Animal Crossing for Gamecube with some of these titles ready to be played on there.
I also have a NES Mini / Classic, and it's by far the easiest to use, especially on a modern flat screen - it looks best too.

It's a fine plug and play mini-console for what it is. It runs solely on emulation unlike TecToy's Mega Drive (Model 1) will offer the ability to play games through three methods:

Method 1 - 22 Built-In Games
Method 2 - SD Card Support
Method 3 - Cartridge Game Support

The whole reason the Mini NES has sold so well isn't because it's the NES (yes, it's part of the reason but not the main), but due to being an official mini retro console by Nintendo. Do you think a Mini NES by AtGames would be sold out? Yeah, right.
