I know some people find this coffee a bit too finely ground, I do love it though.

Lovely coffee! - although just paid £2 for the same at Home Bargains

not so much of a bargain, so didn't post, but i saw that the sachets are on "special offer" in Tesco (in store and online)

tesco.com/gro…902

£1.00 rather than £1.19 for 5 sachets

This is my favourite instant coffee. I'll be stocking up today. Cheers.

1.62 in morrisons

good price, thanks

This is rank rank rank I reckon. Fake coffee just like millicano, only about 5% ground 95% instant. Millicano tastes no different to ordinary doue egberts and this stuff tastes even worse. Instant coffee is not coffee at all, but the like of thus and millicano is just marketing, don't get suckered in by it

Fake? So you're saying there's no coffee in it? Nor in any other instant coffees? Is there anywhere I can get my tastebuds realigned because it sure tastes like coffee to me!

There is nothing worse than someone looking down on others and thinking their opinion counts as a fact.

Thanks OP, this is a good spot. Heat added

This and Millicano do taste better than a lot of the other instants though... And if you can't have ground, e.g. at work, then what's the problem?

Hi amber, you will notice that I didn't address anybody in my post and was thus staying an opinion not trying to condescend anyone. As for the product, it's genius marketing, make people think that is some radical 'real' instant coffee but in fact it's 95% instant (Nescafe which is only a small step up from smart price powder). This only tastes like coffee if you only drink instant and that's your only comparison.
Just my opinion

The snobs are out in force on HUKD I see....

I drink all sorts of coffee, from grinding my own beans, my tassimo, to instant. They're all good.

Never tried this one, will give it a go, thanks op x

Agreed, I'd put doue egberts at the top of the pile, and I'd have millicano joint with it, then barista. All remaining instants are not worth it in my opinion.
There is a deal on this site for a Senseo machine which are great, or if you can't have a machine at work I suggest people buy a flask and make some real coffee at home

Similar story here, grind my own beans, own la pavoni lever, cuisinart em2000, and a Senseo. Thought I'd try barista so bought a box of sachets and found it powdery, dusty, and generally unpleasant. Also bought a tub of millicano and found no difference between that and doue egberts instant in a jar.

I'm fortunate that I like the taste of instant. My favourites are probably the Percol range either the "Espresso" or Organics. I love the smell of the new Douwe Egberts Roasted Hazlenut & Smooth Caramel though. Stocked up on a few jars for xmas omnomnom

This stuff isn't bad certainly prefer it to millicano but I would probably still buy any other branded "Espresso" instant on offer if it's 100g for £2 instead.

You addressed the thread, the deal and anyone who said they like it. Taste is extremely subjective. Saying there is no coffee in it, it's just marketing and people who buy it are suckers is quite different to stating you simply don't like it, which would be an unnecessary comment in itself.

Plain old snobbery.

Sorry you feel that way. You go ahead and buy it then, if it's good economy go for it, all I'm saying is that I've tried it and found it rank, powdery too. I'd stick to douwe egberts instant if instant is your thing, it's better tasting IMO and cheaper per gram. Surely it's just simple economics? Anyway, no need to get crabby really is there?

I agree. I used to like coming on here and looking for DEALS to save me money but some of the negative comments make it an unpleasant experience. What is the point in clicking on a link where you know you dislike the product. I throughly enjoy this coffee and will def be stocking up. Obviously my taste buds are not as sophisticated as some people's on here

Sorry mate that's not the way this site works. Need a balanced view on things surely?

Yup you're right - seems to be the way of things - old standard fare recycled in a flashy new package sold at 3 times the price.
Happens with everything - wisened up a bit and tend to avoid hyper promoted brands.

Not keen on this one. Haven't tried Millicano yet.

I'm a barista at a well known coffee shop (the one that pays tax). I love coffee and would go as far as saying I'm a bit of a coffee snob. I drink a lot of coffee at work and have my own espresso machine at home.

When I can't have proper coffee and need to use instant, this is the one I go for. I quite like it.

Good deal OP, heat added.

Don't talk daft. Why would anyone want to drink anything but the best quality at any given price point? Even at the offer price, if the OP's details are correct, it's an instant coffee which costs £3.28 for 120g. Bog-standard Lavazza Red Label ground coffee will cost around the same for a 250g pack and it will make a much better cup using nothing more exotic, or harder to clean, than a £5-£10 glass coffee jug. You'll spend less and get a much better deal. That's what this site is all about, surely?

I think ground coffee is too strong imo. Instant tastes totally different and that's why people might want instant. Instant doesn't have the bitterness imo

I notice that Nescafe now do a Gold Blend Crema which looks suspiciously like Azera.

I had a tin from my mother who did not like it, and I must admit I mix it with some decent instant to give a stronger coffee with a bit of froth.

I do wonder whether these 'Barista' style instants are just Mellow Birds with a different label, LOL.

The new weight sizes are also hard work in trying to get what is the best deal, 80g - what's that all about

I prefer this out of the current batch of fine ground stuff. Only use it when I cant be arsed to use nespresso machine.

this has to be the nicest instant ive had to date

I don't see why you would go to the trouble of grinding your own beans but then use a tassimo or drink instant but that's up to you. What I don't get is how you can't taste the difference. oO

And don't forget, people, COFFEE BOILED IS COFFEE SPOILED.

I usually have Millicano but got some sachets from Home Bargains to try 69p for 6. It's really quite nice

Nice coffee for an instant how ever don't think your ever gonna have a coffee which tastes like fresh coffee like the advert suggests but what do you want its an instant coffee for those without a coffee machine something mr_hercules seems to have completely missed

Theres a guy at work who lives off of this stuff, I will let him know, cheers OP. Personally I love the smell but hate the taste of coffee lol.

Lol never ceases to amaze me how many people get so tetchy over nothing. No need to get personal (mods, i thought personal insults were banned?) just because sometimes peoples opinions differ from yours. My point, which some of you seemed to have missed, was that just because a certain product or type of product is well marketed doesn't mean it's any good. As for price, quick ocado search, azera 5.48 for 100g, douwe egberts 2.32 for 100g. Even at the reduced price that's 2.73 per 100g. Remember ocado base price is not supermarket price, which would be cheaper. As they say, 'nuff said...

Who said I can't taste the difference? lol. At stupid O'clock when I'm half asleep making babies bottles up, I could kiss my tassimo for ease of use, just chuck a cup in and 60 seconds later I have coffee. On a Sunday morning when I have more time I grind my own beans. Occasionally for quickness in the day I might have an instant. They all work for me, but I never said I couldn't taste the difference.

How is it tetchy? lol. You came into a thread for a coffee you hate to tell everyone it's rank and fake(?) and that anyone who buys it is a sucker...

If you had just said, "urgh, really don't like this coffee, I find it powdery" or some such no one would care... Some people just don't know how to give an opinion without looking down on other people.

You mad, bro?

Out of all of these new 'fancy' instant coffees this is my favourite. Millicano and the carte noir ones are horrible IMO.

(I still only buy this when it's on offer though!)

TESCO at Maryhill , Glasgow have Millicano @ £1.99 for 100gm if anybody is interested , I bought three tins to see me into The Ne'erday .
On line as well so must be nationwide .
