Hmmm! Convince me that these are better than Expresso machines where you DON't need to buy a cartridge for each drink of coffee.

Don't know if this company are any good but they are selling this machine for £49 + £4.50 delivery choicebrand.co.uk/p-1…spx

well spotted,i didn't notice this item was graded, good price for your Amazon deal and heat added.

these are great pod machines (my mate has one). but i think ill stick with my Tassimo. at least with the Tassimo im not just stuck with coffee.

free delivery?

Yes free delivery

Best machine on the market imo, top price.

Rubbish machine - portions are miniscule, cost per drink is quite high and personally would go and buy a Gaggia instead - make your own - cheaper/nicer/more fun to do. Had one of these and gave it away to family and don't miss it at all. My Gaggia Black though I could not live without.

These are advertised on TV at Comets. I bet the sachets are expensive too

They're not too bad - £3.20ish a box. Boxes have 16 pods in and depending on what drink it is, you either use 1 or 2 so a maximum of 40p a drink. I hate coffee with a passion, but the hot choc's pretty nice (not too sweet) and hubby likes the cappuccino

You can do Hot Chocolate with this, but not tea.

Some of these have a problem with leaks. Reason for reduction is the new model.

Still, they're very convenient and my guests seem to enjoy the coffee.

yep usually there is a new model coming that is why the cost is coming … yep usually there is a new model coming that is why the cost is coming down, wonder if the new ones use the same pods.

I believe they're the same.

gets 4.5 out 5 for reviews so cant be that bad

Depends what you're looking for, really. Handy for a quick coffee but if you're a little more into it then I'd say go for a Nespresso, or if you're a coffee nut then as Evz says a proper espresso machine would be a better choice, albeit a more fiddly and time-consuming one.

Personally, I have a Nespresso machine for weekdays and a Delonghi espresso machine for the weekends.

Keep thinking I should get a pod machine, but Tesco own brand individual filter cups are £1.70 for 10 and taste great.

Bought mine earlier this year when they were a similar price at Argos. No leaks or problems with mine and it makes great coffee. You say the pods are expensive but the quality of the drinks is on a par with well known coffee houses who charge £2.00-£3.00 a pop! ;-)

And I can make coffee on par with said coffee shopsa Gaggia for a couple of pence and twice the size of the Gusto, in fact I can make any size I want, it really doesn't take more than a few seconds more (if you want to steam your milk etc) otherwise just throw your coffee in and pull it through like you would a Gusto - proper fresh nice coffee and sooooo much cheaper and more than a ants swimming pool size portion as well

For what you pay up front, the few quid more for a Gaggia or even just buy a cheaper Espresso make (probably pick up for 1/2 the price of this) and get stuck in - simple - Youtube even has videos of how to make your favourite drinks if you need to see how easy they are.

I've tried those too - pretty good for taking to the office, etc. However the pod machines are so much better Even just for a standard cup of coffee you'll get a better taste out of the pod machine. Plus they're clean and easy to use and warm up pretty quickly (this one uses a thermoblock to heat the water as it is pumped, so it doesn't boil the water like a kettle.

Thumbs up from me for the Dolce Gusto.

couple of pence

Use good beans - I think the price per espresso should be around 10-14 pence. A pod machine is about 20p.

And I would say that the Dolce Gusto can make a perfect Espresso. It's just twice as expensive, which is why I'm putting mine on eBay shortly

Mine started leaking from the base after about 9 months, but Dolce Gusto customer services were very good, and sent me the newer model (this one) as a replacement. I think the leak may have come from the seal where the tank sits on the main unit, so I remove the tank as little as possible now (I fill it with a jug). The only problem with the replacement is that the pods are sometimes dripping or squirting when I pull them out.

The drinks are great. I'm addicted. And there are a lot more than 7 varieties if you buy online from DG. They probably won't satisfy a coffee connoisseur, but it's a good compromise between taste and ease-of-use.
