Went in to the nespresso shop last week and they use this machine to dispense drinks for customers. He called it the “Ferrari” of nespresso coffee machines:p
Why cold? Is this no good? Cheaper elsewhere?

Probably the nespresso haters voting it cold.
How would using this make pod coffee taste better than a £40 machine?

Be careful, my comments expressing (espressing?) similar observations are generally deleted.
It's better that they pay more.

Better crema apparently. No idea if true
Have one of these having upgraded, it’s fantastic and the coffee tastes much better
I know champion baristas who reluctantly admit a Nespresso machine is worth having. They don't feel the same about a cheap pod machine.

But of course it's "horses for courses" so if you're not into this then it's probably not the thread to click on.

I have to say that the customer service I've received is up there with the best. Even when I threw my capsule tray away in a sleepy haze, they sent me a replacement part for free.

Agree - Can't get my head around this either. Surely it's down to the quality of the pods. I keep an old Nespresso machine for back-up and confirm that their pods are consistently very good. Nespresso do the premium brand marketing really well though

The main benefit of this machine for me is that it has the steam wand - undoubtedly makes better milk foam than the aeroccino.
Steam wand is main thing of this otherwise no difference between this and a £40 nespresso machine

They can afford to give good customer service because the products are so over-priced.

Fair enough. Why are you in a Nespresso thread?

You do have the ability to adjust the temperature as well with both the coffee and milk which you dont with cheaper machines.

Higher pressure too I believe, which makes for a better espresso.

Are you some sort of fascist? Clear off.

Absolutely not. Just wondering what you want from this thread if you don't like the brand. You can obviously use your time how you like but somebody might be able to help you with what you need to know
well I think it's a good price for this. it was £249 on prime day but this is still good

You can adjust the temperature of the milk and not the coffee. I have this machine at home and definitely think it's worth it for this price. The main thing is the automatic steam wand which is the same system that is on the Sage/Breville Oracle machine meaning you don't have to faff around tilting or raising the jug as you froth as the machine automatically does it to the correct consistency.
The Nespresso side of the machine is similar to most of their other machines but some of the benefits of this are very fast heat up time so is ready to go almost as soon as you've switched it on. Intuitive menu system with a clear and easy to read screen. It's also very easy to keep clean and maintain. Most of the exterior is brushed stainless steel apart from the waste capsule tray which is coated plastic and a bit poor compared to the rest of the machine. Also the milk jug is quite small which is a bit annoying if making more than 2 large drinks. But overall this is very good if you like your milk based drinks. Oh and it does flat whites too which I don't think you can with say the Lattisima machine.
Cheers for the heads up on this. I was considering replacing my bean to cup with something smaller and saw this in the nespresso store inside Meadowhall where they had it for sale for £510. Next day this deal came up and I couldn’t resist. Ordered it with 100 capsules for £7 something so at 7p per cup it surely can’t be that much more expensive than my bean to cup?

I agree, I thought this was a really good deal for this machine. Judging from the lack of heat, not everyone would agree...

Did you buy it?
sharkburger29/08/2019 09:50

Yes, love it.

What type of coffee do you like? Is the coffee a good standard. I want one for cappuccinos but it would be good to have some feedback. Many Thanks.

Not unboxed it yet as I still had some beans left in my bean to cup but they’ve ran out today so I’ll be setting it up tomorrow. Looking forward to getting the space back in my kitchen!

Thanks, let me know how you get on! That's why I'm interested but want to make sure it can make a decent cappuccino!

After using it for a week or so I’d definitely recommend it. It’s a very premium machine and looks fantastic. The quality of the milk is much better than my bean to cup (Siemens eq7) and the milk based drinks are a lot hotter. The control over the drinks are excellent including temperature, coffee volume, milk volume, milk consistency and even the order that the milk/coffee is dispensed. The water container is also huge for a capsule machine.

My only criticisms are of the relatively small drip tray that needs emptying quite frequently in comparison with my old bean to cup and more importantly the amount of coffee in a Nespresso capsule is much smaller so it’s sometimes difficult to get the coffee strength right when making milk based drinks, I’m going to try the stronger capsules from amazon and see if that helps - if not I’ll have to resort to using 2 capsules per drink. I also didn’t consider the impact on the environment using capsules instead of beans to be honest.

The amazon capsules are great by the way, really nice tasting coffee and great value.
