I completely fail to understand why these aren't free. Paying for this … I completely fail to understand why these aren't free. Paying for this is as daft as buying the empty coffee jar so that you can pay again for the coffee in it.A wise person once coined the term podiots.

So a washing machine should be free as you have to buy detergent for it to work? Same goes for a kettle as you have to put water in for it to work. Bean to cup coffee machines; same story. We all buy lots of things that will not work without some other vital addition so by you're reckoning everyone is a fool.

The empty coffee jar is a metaphor for your brain - which needs to be constantly refilled with free information..you will still be none the wiser, so why bother?

A reasonably decent tasting pod from Home Bargains has a net price of 10p hardly a 'podiot' for paying that.

I bought the krups one (cream)

Just had a look online and the only difference is the spout on the front though I got some weird bespoke pod version.

So where is the best regular supply of decent pods - Home Bargains ? The originals cost a fortune !
And has anyone tried the cheap refillables ?

Aldi ones are lovely, Lidl are good.
Not tried the refillables

Tassimo machines are given free in Germany with special offers I understand. Perhaps Nespresso will follow suit lol. Just bought 10 packs (360 cups) of Senseo Extra Strong coffee pads in Poundstretcher for £10 (deal posted on HUKD). I dont have a machine. I just pop them in a mug and squeeze. What a bargain.

Are cars free, because you have to fill them with fuel?

Worth recapping this one. hotukdeals.com/dea…274

Ordered and tried - very good. I was getting leakage on other pods, but these seem to be firmer at the foil end (as per the orginals). Coffee and tea options very good too. :-)

Thanks OP. :-)

Purchased from John Lewis with £10 price match against Currys. Longer guarantee.

Yes if it could only work with a particular, inferior but expensive, detergent.

They should be if that car would only run on overpriced inferior capsules of fuel

I know that podiots think that they're buying into a Lifestyle and they get upset when people don't see it their way.

Would you feel clever about buying a spanner that only worked on 11-sided nuts that were make of earwax and cost £2 each? Of course you would if you were told to by the telly

10p? If you weren't a podidiot you could have had a nice cup of hot water and saved the 10p for your electricity bill....

Nespresso often run promotions like this twice a year.

Nespresso are running a Summer promotion at the moment. You can purchase the Inissia machine for £59.99 and you get the Milk Aeroccino (worth £50) for free. **you must buy 150 pods to qualify for this offer**

Inkjet printers make a better comparison IMO. Cheap to buy, expensive to run. My bean to cup machine was expensive (£270)compared to a pod machine though over the 4.5 years of ownership it has made around 20k shots of coffee and costs have been comparable to a 'decent' instant.
I have no axe to grind against pod machines though for medium to heavy users(at least) they're uneconomical to run. YMMV.

To be fair, these are normally free or thereabouts so long as you commit to buying £75 worth of coffee over a year. Wouldn't buy a machine at this price without a substantial coffee rebate.
