It’s sooooo much better. The difference is astounding. I’d recommend trying to get to a Nespresso store to try one of the new machines!

Only concern for me is that the coffee pods are more expensive and I don’t think you can get compatible ones like with the others can you?
Great price. Bought mine from Amazon France when they were £90. Great machine. I do prefer the size of coffee from the Gran Lungo (personal preference). I've not got rid of my Pixie machine just yet though as I think I probably prefer the coffee from the regular capsules.

No you can't. Also, the main reason I like genuine Nespresso pods is that you can recycle everything.

I haven’t seen them anywhere else yet, although there are three different sizes so it may be some time before another manufacturer takes the plunge into compatibles. It will only be worth their while once the Vertuo machines start to be adopted widely. I have a Nespresso Inissia which is enough for me for now. I can’t justify having another larger machine. Eventually these new machines will be offered at discounted rates on a regular basis, so I’ll wait until that happens before buying one.:{

Doubtful anytime soon as I would imagine Nespresso have a patent on the barcode used which tells the machine the size of the pod being inserted and what to do with it.

Yeh I think I will wait for one of these for when another company starts making the capsules. For now I will look into buying one of their other machines. Any you would recommend ?

The Inissia is fine for me, and is usually available at a discounted price if you shop around. I bought mine with an Aeroccino milk frother as a joint deal, but never use it, so unless you prefer lattes or cappuccinos there isn’t much point in having one. I usually buy Nespresso capsules but occasionally buy Aldi’s as a stop gap, which are about 50% cheaper.:{

It depends how gullible you are. Why do you feel the need to buy coffee by the pod?
Do you buy all your groceries in tiny little individually wrapped pieces too?

I have friends who have either bean to cup, or a simple Aeropress, but also have a Nespresso machine for convenience.:{

No the *whole* reason this was invented (besides cracking their US problem) is because this new process is covered by new patents and you will not see generics for it (legally) for years.

See previous comment - the driving force behind this was the the patents had expired on the pods for the old machines which we is why we see all the generics, you will not see generics for this for years maybe decades.

Well, yes. Chicken breasts/thighs rather than whole chicken, ground mince rather than an entire cow, biscuits rather than their component ingredients. I uhh could go on, but I couldn’t decide how sarcastic you were being...
I’m tempted to get one of these.... but I have the Lattissima Plus and only really drink lattes. Does anyone on here own the Vertuo model? And if so - have you tried the ‘reverso’ yet? Apparently it’s cold milk first with the coffee poured over the top. If it’s as good as a latte I’ll probably bite at this price

Lol. Just convenient and easy to use I guess
I upgraded to the vertuo, because I like bigger coffees now and again and I love it. The reverso is really nice. Problem is..the pods are expensive and the boxes are bulky
Was tempted by one of these when the price was ~£97 on Amazon France... currently £129.99 on Amazon UK, I imagine a price match with John Lewis...

For those commenting about pods being more expensive; I'll normally have between 2 and 4 pods in a drink to get a decent size & strength of coffee. From the sample I had in the Nespresso store, I'd only need one pod using the Vertuo system. So yes the pod are more expensive, but I would save money in the long run...
Got one from the Amazon France deal, and two months in I’m using it every day. The coffee is really nice, massive amount of creamy froth (I refuse to call it crema). Expensive coffee at 50p a shot (the pods are bar coded for the machine to read / know what size you’ve put in), but it’s a big mug full, not an espresso, and my costa/nero purchases have stopped completely now I’m getting a “treat” coffee at home.
I bought one of these this week. It is excellent, really really good. A Nespresso for those that like their coffee in a mug - pods are a bit more expensive than the regular Nespresso, but well worth it. This is also the lowest price I have seen for a Vertuo plus - so not sure why cold.
