£169 if you don't want it installed. Have some heat from me.

The npower trick still works if you don't want installation

what's the n power trick?

Also if you're thinking of the nest cam because of that email it's cheaper at amazon. Only £115

thanks bud, ordered.

With most modern setups, if you can change an electrical socket, you can install the programmer.

didn't find this too easy to install. the actual thermostat is fine but the link box was a nightmare not sure if it was due to my boiler type or maybe a faulty unit as I had bought it from Amazon warehouse.

Same price at curry's, possible 1.1% quidco cashback

I installed my own. it was very easy and took about 5 minutes.

does the main unit with the display have to be wired in or does it run on batteries? also does that have to be where the current thermostat receiver base is? I have a heatmiser with a remote control that runs on battery . I assume the nest is the same so there'll be a unit that sits in the cupboard where the current one is and the remote is the one with the dial snd display?

The thermostat needs power but can run from a wall socket. You can also buy a stand if you need to locate it elsewhere which is about £30 although a guy on ebay sells a metal version for £20 which is much nicer

do these really save any money. Is it not a fancy way of using the timer or minimum temperture setting on normal thermostats ..... please educate me

thanks I assume the heat link is what needs to be in the cupboard wired up with the hot water control and boiler etc where the current heatmiser unit is?

has anyone wired these up manually replacing a heatmiser? is it difficult?

I have one of these in my 2nd home because I can turn the heating off and on when I need it from anywhere in the world ( via wifi) it also turns off when you leave the house - if you forget. So yes its a learning thermostat. It learns what you need/like and tries to improve on it. The way energy prices are - you will soon save money.

must you have a thermostat installed in order to use this? The old thermostat I have is placed right beside the main door so I want the thermostat to be place elsewhere if I have to pay for a new one. any drilling involved?

You can have this anywhere, just be advised usually the radiators in the room where the thermostat is fitted wont have thermostatic valves (to turn the radiator down) so if you move the next into another room the original room will be like a sauna.

Whats the difference between this and netatmo as that one is advertised as being able to fit yourself?

Gone for this. Wanted the installation, I'm not much of a DIYer. Looking forward to the install. Next is Alexa, should go nice with it.

Waiting to see if Hive have an offer too before I make my move

Tempted by this as I want installation, can I arrange an installation time that is suitable or do they select the installation time?

Thanks just bought including install.

JL are offering Hive at 199 installed.

I can't decide personally between the two ... need help getting off the fence.

I'm in the same situation but I've just gone for the Nest. Looks nicer, has great reviews on Amazon and the app is highly rated!

£189 installed on Amazon for Hive has clinched it for me

we installed new boiler but there is no wall thermostat. we have remote controlled device? How this will be installed with this set up?

I understand that Hive is not smart?
It won't learn your comings and goings.
I could be wrong though

Expired I beleive

Wow if anyone is on the fence I'm blown away by this product.
Piece of **** to fit. I've intigrated it with 3 wemo sockets that were allready in my possession .

To get a flavour if I walk out of my door the heating drops down to low setting and my lighting via wemo switches off . When I return the heating returns to the higher setting and the lights switch on if it's after sunset. Clever clever stuff

How are we getting this discounted price guys???

Here's some feedback on professional installation from Nest...

I received an email telling me 'Don't forget your Nest installation' and to be in between 1300 and 1700 on the day.

I cancel half a day's work and wait.

At four o'clock on the day, three hours into the installation slot, I get a terse phone call saying they won't be coming to install and that it will be eight o'clock the next day. I say that might be difficult. Person on phone says that if I can't do eight, they can't do it.

I phone Nest and wait forty minutes on hold. When I get through, the guy in the call centre has trouble finding my order and says I might have to wait 'a while' as the computers are going slow. I say 'This isn't great customer service: I waste three hours waiting for an installer who doesn't turn up, forty minutes on hold and then you tell me your computers aren't working properly.' The chap says 'You'll need to speak to a supervisor' even though I say I don't want to and then I spend another thirty-five minutes on hold until I give up and put the phone down.

Ten minutes later, I receive a phone call from Nest. Apparently I need to understand that the installers are 'third party contractors.' I reply that 'I pay Nest. Nest manages the contractors.' Nest offers to refund my installation fee so that I can arrange install myself, which means Nest offers nothing as it will cost more. I think I'm going to send the box back. I lost hundreds of pounds in income for a non-existent installation and Nest couldn't care less.

Maybe British Gas and Hive isn't so bad after all.

how do you get discounted price? Thanks
