Just spotted the Nest Cam reduced at Amazon.co.uk to £119.

It appears to have been reduced to £129 at Nest and John Lewis so this seems a good deal.

I'd go for this, if it wasn't for the ongoing cost. Will stick with the ucam's.
you can buy cameras with more than 3 times the picture quality for half the price direct from china on ali express or ali baba.

How secure are they though?
I like Nest products and have the Nest Thermostat and Nest Protect. This however, with its ongoing costs is a massive con and like others have already mentioned there are lots of better non subscription options available.
To anyone thinking of buying this please take note that when you switch this off it stays on. It is not watching you in a sinister way, and be assured that it does not send the images to the cloud or directly to google nor does it have a secret memory buffer to store the images it is not recording, when it hears specific keywords like, sex, quickie, wife away, hubby away.

Of course it has to be on. How else are you going to turn it back on remotely? This is true for all devices that need to be turned on remotely like Sonos for example.
There are no ongoing costs unless you want cloud video storage.
