Because the image quality is upto 4k and its constantly on, thats a lot of data upload. Not an issue with a fast internet connection. For me, I went for the Arlo Pro with a deal from Amazon. Wireless connection and good image quality, its enough for what I needed. This is a great price for this camera though, heat from me!

They don't upload in 4K, they only upload 1080P, the 4K sensor is so it can zoom in on the action automatically without loss of image quality.

Cold, no nfc, no power delivery or fast char.... wait this isn't a Oneplus 6, my bad.

All seriousness though, do you have to get a cloud subscription with Nest or do they provide something for this price point?
Been thinking of getting these but would appreciate some advice. After a 2 camera setup with decent notifications and wonder what is required aswell as the cameras, if anything?
You need a subscription. 5 days continuous history in cloud is £4 per month for 1st device or £40 per year upfront. Subsequent devices attract a discount. We have a 1st gen indoor cam and I really like it. Nest devices also work well with Google Home and Philips Hue devices.

You'll need to subscribe to Nest Aware (starts at £40 a year for 5 days of cloud storage) in order to take advantage of the extra features such as zoned alerts, familiar face alerts.
You need a subscription service for recordings. We pay £40 a year for 5 days’ recording. My version is the lower one to this. Not sure it’s that easy to identify someone but hopefully works as a deterrent as light is on all the time.
I looked at this earlier today, it looked to me as though they are a trade retailer only and you needed to sign up with a company to create a company account. So that would make this deal not available to most people, unless I'm missing something?

They send alerts etc but they're limited without the subscription to be honest.

Anyone ordered anything from them that can confirm?
Wondering if this will be reduced elsewhere?...

Surprised it hasn't been. Both this and the Nest Hello are priced high. Too high to attract new users to Nest in my opinion.

I have also been looking at Arlo pro, but put off by battery charging and high cost, plus the needing to have a bulky base station.

It’s a tossup between a bit of additional installation but with permanent 1080p recall, vs easy install but only motion activated clips being saved.

My 4 cams (3 x Outdoor, 1 x IQ Outdoor) use around 3mb/s upload in total, so you certainly do need a decent internet connection to get the best out out of them
Thanks OP. Gonna try John Lewis price match then hold off till Black Friday to see if it comes down more. If not you’ve still saved me over £100 for the two I’m gonna buy!

Hot!!
Hot. Bought two
Okay well I've ordered for click and collect so fingers crossed. Been waiting for a price drop on this cam for a while, no way it's worth £329. £240 is a good price though, HOT!
Got the John Lewis price match and brought two. Thanks again OP.

Just submitted price match too. Seems like the best price it's been or is likely to be in the near future!
How long do the price matches take to come through, how long are they guaranteed for and do you purchase with a unique discount code to take the price down to the other retailers or do you make an order over the phone?

Within 24hrs, but mine for the Doorbell came through about 4 hours after. Still waiting for the camera one.

Unfortunately, you have to purchase full price and they refund the money within 5 days. (Up to 28 if via PayPal).

I’d have thought there would be a discount applied and then you purchase but sadly it’s not that straight forward.

I’ve no idea how long it lasts for. I was going to hold out for Friday to see what other deals come about but didn’t dare wait incase the other offer ends. I can always return should a better one come out, or perhaps request another price match!?:/

Thanks JimDut. Sent mine through early morning and nothing yet. There's a City Plumbing branch 2 miles away from me but no stock. They will deliver but their reviews on trustpilot are making me consider John Lewis as the better option. If they drag their feet I might just have to order from here
I’ll let you know how I get on as both were ordered full price via JL the doorbell is def agreed, so I can’t see why they won’t for the camera. I have stock at my local CityPlumbers for both products.

John Lewis have confirmed the price match.

John Lewis have confirmed the price match.

Ordered from City Plumbing and 5 minutes later I got the email confirming the price match from John Lewis. To be fair, the customer service from City Plumbing was spot on. The local branch called me a few minutes later and apologised that they'd have no stock until 3rd Dec. That's no big deal for me so let's hope for some mild weather in December so I can fit the thing! Been looking out for a price drop on these for months so thanks op
I ordered online Monday from city plumbing, delivered today. 🏻
Price matched successfully via John Lewis website. Have to apply for a partial refund but happy with that for the added security John Lewis provides.
Thanks for this post!. Was hoping to get one of these in the sale, really good price and John Lewis price matched 🏻
Still waiting for JL to respond and the offer finishes today @ CP

They just resopnded and will match it!

JL process the price match refund very quickly, trouble free
Thanks put it up Saturday, have to admit i have it one end of my driveway, the face recognition is quite hit and miss from over 10 feet away, what have you guys found with yours?
Yea same here. It recognises a person fine, just not the face but I don’t really care too much about that feature. Works a treat on the Nest Hello where it’s much more useful.
Mine is about 10ft in the air and unless you stand and look at it close its a waste of time.

I might move it closer to the front door but it means dropping the height.

How is Nest Hello working out?
Yep mines about the same height.

Having now bought the IQ. compared the the normal Outdoor I wouldn’t bother spending the extra, but I’d have never known without trying. Plus I’m looking to move soon so who knows, might work better at the new place.

The Hello is excellent. I’ve simply purchased a plug in transformer and wired it directly to that and use the various google home/minis in the house, along with my phone to announce anyone there.

The delay is about 6 seconds, but it was the same with the ring 2 doorbell. So used to that now. Quality is far superior to ring and all works nicely with my nest / google / hue / smartthings setup. 😁
Does the Hello pickup faces if people walk past or just when stood directly in front as I have a shared drive?

I wonder whether to make a fixing to 'push' the camera out from the wall a bit so it has a better picture .. God knows!

I also have x3 Nest outdoor so i may well swap the iq out and return it .. kinda the main reason for buying it along with the quality!
I’m not sure regarding walking past, I wouldn’t have thought so, as most of mi e as as someone presses the doorbell, so tend to be looking at it.
