I definitely want/need one but at these types of prices just can't afford it. Companies should think about the many, not the few.

Just get yourself an ipcam and if you want to fit it outdoors buy a bubble canopy and seal it with silicone to keep it waterproof.

Thats what I have done £20 for the ipcam £10 for the dome - I recommend DBPOWER i have one of them been running outside my place for the last 4 years not a single problem except the odd reboot due to electrical power glitch in the mains and i can view it from my home in Slovakia as its web based and two of them in my property - very useful actually caught one of my neighbours crashing into my car and driving off so has already saved me a few squid as well as catching a couple of dodgy individuals outside my place

Unfortunately most of these new ipcams especially the 1080p variety things are becoming a con and forcing users to use a smartphone app and pay for cloud storage obviating us web browser users - just another con under the guise of increased security!
Had one a couple of months, thought I’d spend more for something so as to get a top of the range camera but very unimpressed. Plenty of others out there I’d wish I’d bought

What model u have m8
Easyn & DBpower old 720P models 7 years old.

If you use the free iSpy program you can have it all - video record on movement, followme, two way talk and listen, full 360 degree movement and 90 degree up down, instant email alert, ftp to server if you have one like me and loads more stuff.
Someone moves outside my home or inside i get an instant email alert on my phone within 5 secs on average!

I have tried to get a 1080p ipcam that does web browser support but its harder than finding a hens tooth but this one looks promising?

smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/…_it

Its just my preference as I am not a mobbie addict i prefer to use a pc as you dont always have a phone signal abroad or in certain places and I just hate smartphone too fiddly for my big hands!

What do you suggest?

My neighbour Has Nest IQ outdoor and loves it. When I told her someone broke into our car at night, it took her about 2-3mins to find the culprit on her phone! I was impressed with the resolution and speed.

Worked out well for you there but guessing the camera covers her own property too and not just yours?! That would be a little weird!

The car is parked near the dividing hedge. Her camera lens edge covers the hedge area. It gave me a little peace of mind because we found out it was the same guy who had broken into other people's cars on our street. I.e. he wasn't targetting just our car.

This was 6 months ago and he's long gone...along with my £170 Sat Nav.
Lesson learned.
Was the cctv footage used to nick him?

Nope. No chance. He was too slick. Police said itnis difficult.
He was in and out within 5m. He's worked the whole street. Long gone now.

Just a heads up the reason I am a looking at this deal is because my nest hello cam caught this guy... and last wed he pleaded guilty in court and it about to be sentenced. Now my wife and I want one at the back door as it is accessable from a route that you do not need to pass the front door from.

I am leaning towards Nest door bell to start with. If/when they charge per household rather than per camera, we will get 1 for the back.

Our guy was tall, no glasses, white chap.

@123sonny123 only we reason we bought the backdoor one is because in October they announced a new billing type for multi cam households coming in 2020. Its certainly a good plan and I think the doorbell is a great way to start, even if not for the cam I love the person detection (no false alarms for foxes and cars)

Cheers. I just breezed through Ring and Nest app reviews on PLAY Store. Slightly in favour of Nest. Doorbell connection to our Ethernet Switch (I am guessing this is how it's connected) is straightforward. The IQ camera at the back will need a very long cable though!

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding, but you don't need to hard wire the network to the camera or doorbell it's all wireless, you just need power.

Yes all wireless only need power cables for doorbell and nest IQ cam, the new nest IQ outdoor cam cable is detachable I believe so you can thread through the hole you drilled. Nest door bell can use any pre existing door bell wires. Depending on your current door bell or age of old door bell you may need a transformer but there are plenty of them on Amazon.

Aah ok. Thanks. Our router (Sky) is in the front room. No chance wifi will reach the Nest IQ Cam on the roof of the rear extension.
