A bit pricy isn't it?
I mean there is a lot of cameras that does the same just a lot less money..

For an outdoor security camera, that lead is just screaming "cut me!".

They're targeting this sort of cross-sell of the Nest brand eco-system to the type of punter who has absolutely no clue of the spec of an i.p camera for this sort of price,

They're buying the brand, certainly not a high spec product to match the high price

Don't you have to pay to get any type of alert from these?

Had one. You need to pay monthly subscription to record. Without subscription it does not record at all.

Ridiculous system!

Yeah terrible. It kept going offline everyday. Also it uses about 400gb internet a month . I recommend the ones that record to micro sd card.

I have a Netatmo Security camera/light. It’s not 100%. Well enough built, doesn’t scream camera. RRP is £200 but I picked one up in John Lewis for £100, glad I didn’t pay more. It does SD card recording.

£150 to visualise your surfing habits as well as your browser history.

I know I'm in the minority but I think these are great. I have two nest cams and they're really good cameras. Yes you have to pay a sub for some features but they're really easy to use, the quality is great and I can stalk the kids and wife while I'm at work and even talk to them through the camera.

Record to an SD card if you want but when someone breaks in and nicks the card you're buggered. Mine never drop out (except when the internet itself does itself obviously) and yeah they use loads of data but it's all upload anyway so not usually an issue with most providers.

Why is this cold? Does anyone have a better price

Personally I'm a fan of my nest cam. Yes it's expensive for what it is but the setup and app alone are way better than the cheap Chinese versions available. I had a SD card IP cam. Main problem for me with it was retrieving the recordings via the app. Yes I could take the card out but didn't fancy getting the ladders out every time I wanted to save a clip.

Sub is £80 a year for the first cam the £40 for each of the next.
