I've been looking for one of these for the past few months but the prices have all been well over the £200 mark.
Spotted this yesterday at £179.99. The deal is good until the 4th February after which it'll go up to £209 again.

Might be useful for someone who was waiting for the price to drop a bit before committing. Collection from your local branch or delivery for extra cost.

I hate to tell you this but if you've wired this up inside your home you've installed it wrong.

This is needless scaremongering. The Nest thermostat is connected to the app via your home WiFi, so as long as that's working, you're fine. And even if your WiFi isn't working, you can always crank up the Nest manually. And even if you can't do that for some reason, such as a dead battery in the unit, you can still turn on your heating at the Nest switch that's attached to your boiler.
These video doorbells are a really good deterrent. Friend of mine has video of two blokes in the middle of the night looking around the front then when they approach the front door one points at the doorbell then they both leave.

Cheapest it's been for a while.
Don't forget to add up to £10 for a new door bell transformer - Screwfix sell them.

Is there a subscription needed for this?

Hi, which transformer would you recommend? I’m re wiring my house so need to install one upstairs and downstairs but a friend of mine has struggled finding the right product. Also would google home minis work to alert you?
Got one and love it! The wiring can be fidderly
The iPhone alert on this is just rubbish all you get is the standard “tri tone” if you go on nest forums, it has been reported many times but they do nothing about it.

The free option only gives you 3 hours free motion triggered recordings. So if you want anything more than that you will need to buy a subscription plan.
I think this is the screwfix transformer. It can supply 24v, The doorbell requires 16v-24v.
screwfix.com/p/b…07p

But check your chime voltage if you plan on hooking it up - a lot in the UK operate around 8v.

There was a firmware update at the end of last year and the UK Nest Hello can now go down to 12V (8VAC) which opens up more choices for chimes but there are still lots of chimes it is not compatible with so a bit fiddly to install unless you know what you are looking for or don't care for chimes.

This transformer should be good enough for you. If you put the Nest on the 12V rail, it should be more than capable of connecting to any wired doorbell that takes 8V in the UK.

yes that's what happened to me - I could connect Nest Hello fine with 12V and get video feed but the chime wouldn't sound when pressing the Hello door bell button so I switched it up to 16V and replaced the transformer with the screw fix one mentioned. I didn't have to replace the standard chime which was a bonus.

Thats the exact one iv used since release date, no problem, i use google home as the chime, and pay £40 per year for 5 days recording.

This is the original house chime that I use with Nest Hello (cover taken off) - uses only two wires. Had to install the screw fix rail transformer and up the voltage to 16V. 12V worked with the door bell too (using the original transformer and choosing 12V setting) however the chime wouldn't sound for me when the Nest Hello button was pressed. This chime was installed in 2001.

Why pay more for this over the Ring?

Why pay more for this over the Blink?

Blink's doorbell turned out to be vapourware. Now that Amazon also own Ring the chances of Blink getting their doorbell to market is highly unlikely!

A noob question on all these iOT doorbells. Isn't easy for people to just steal it?

Why would you want to install surveillance by governments in YOUR OWN HOME at free will and even pay for it yourself?
This question boggles me over and over again?!!

"Saying that you don’t care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say. It’s a deeply anti social principle because rights are not just individual, they’re collective, and what may not have value to you today may have value to an entire population, an entire people, an entire way of life tomorrow. And if you don’t stand up for it, then who will?"

Very funny, haha. I would never install this under, above, beneath, next to or anywhere near inside or outside any place.
How much would it cost to have the nest installed professionally?

Fairly easy sure but why would you steal it? Video footage in on the cloud of you stealing it. Each Ring device is uniquely identifiable so it wouldn't be much use/of much value to the theif.
If it does get stolen Ring will replace it for free.
My doorbell has put people off calling. I recommend them. It uses motion detection so will record even if the button isn't pressed.
