You hired the wrong type of 'pro' if they couldn't figure out how to connect two wires to 24VAC

No problem at all. I ordered when it was originally available last Friday and package arrived yesterday. 2 year JL warranty is an added bonus at this price.

are these really easy to steal and is there a free replacement cover like ring?

Not in UK, it's in US only. It's not easy to steal with hard wiring. I guess your home insurance can cover it?
If you are worries about showing it off and also to protect the expensive doorbell try this.

Can you please share the instructions for DIY?

Sorry mate, the link just disappeared, it's fixed now.
If you have the ability then this is what I did to wire mine up as I wanted an all-in-one solution rather than using a mains socket or running more cables. It went perfectly and I have no buzz:

Is ring better?
Also remember you can use google home/mini as a chime and use chromecast to beam the video to your TV.

Not at all. I replaced ring doorbell 2 for this. Hand on heart picture quality is much better, no lag as the ring. Also continuous recording is great. I see the people's face rather than their back on the footage now. 😏
I've had this price match with Toolstation offer last time. It took me about 2hrs to install it. For those who don't know where to start, this instructions will help. I've done it step by step and the doorbell works like a treat. This option requires hardwiring and it is useful if your existing doorbell uses Byron or Byron-like chime (I'm using Deta C3500 chime). The Fuse box cost me about £5.50 from amazon and transformer about £9 from screwfix. You'll also need some 2-way connectors and about 200mm of thin wire. I hope it helps.

Does it send to TV automatically when door bell rings?
That would be cool.

Not to the TV, however if you have a google home hub, it will show the video as soon as someone rings the bell.

A separate hub as well as the home mini included in this deal?
I'm in 2 minds whether I should return the replacement ring pro I have on the way from Ring..Com to Amazon and get a refund and replace with the nest hello.
The time lapse and 24/7 recording is appealing but the subscription costs are putting me off.
The ring pro has been working fine for 6 months but messed up and then the replacement has now messed up too. I've lost confidence in its reliability.

just FYI - the Ring Pro is far better at this than the standard Ring or Ring 2 - because it is powered it records footage leading up to the motion event - every motion event I've had has included a few seconds of footage before the motion starts. Also you can live-view it any time (not sure thats the case with the standard Ring), and adjust the motion alert zones.

None the less it does only record minute long clips rather than continuously (but will keep recording them as long as there's motion) That seems fine to me, as I cant see the point in retaining footage where nothing is happening. The recording plan is also cheaper than the Nest Hello, and the upload bandwidth requirements aren't so demanding. The Ring works best with amazon devices (can live-view the ring on a fire-tv or echo show by asking alexa to view the front door, as well as the standard "alexa answer the front door" for intercom - not sure the Nest works as well with alexa)

On the minus side, the motion events have often lagged for me (although the doorbell ring events have generally been instant).

Overall I think they're both fantastic devices. Perhaps get the Ring Pro if you're more invested in the Amazon smart home ecosystem, and the Nest Hello if you've got google home devices (they'll both work with either smart-speaker system, but the integration isn't as good)

I guess with this offer you get a Google Home Mini included, so you can use that as the doorbell intercom regardless of if you already have amazon alexa devices

I think if android is your TV platform you can install nest app on it. Otherwise you need either android TV box to install nest app or google chromcast to let the google home stream it to your TV. Correct me if I'm wrong.
love my hello. I opted for the 5 day plan which I felt was enough to figure out if something was wrong. Very cool being able to see visitors on the kitchen display. Will be adding a couple of external cameras once I have some spare cash.

The only feature I think is lacking is the ability to set a DND on the doorbell. Not that anyone has rung later at night, but it just seems like a bit of an omission given everything else has a DND mode.
Ordered thanks. Hot

I agree with the DND mode. It has an to option to turn off the camera which is stupid in my view. If you install it for security why would you want to turn it off. You want to set a period where it records but not send any notifications.

24/7 recording is coming to Ring sometime in 2019 if that's a feature you really want.
I have Ring 2 which was easy to install as my previously existing doorbell was wired.
Will I be able to remove it and replace it with this without any additional wiring or hardware?

I did a quick search on nest.com/support and I found this article for you. It covers everything you need to know to find out if you're compatible with the Nest Hello video doorbell.

Deal been taken down?
For those who are deciding between this and the Ring pro, here are the differences based on actual facts.

Dimensions

Ring Pro
11.43 cm x 4.67 cm x 2.03 cm

Nest Hello
11.7 cm x 4.3 cm x 2.6 cm

Ring Pro is better for :

Included hardware (comes with a Ring Chime and 24VAC transformer)
Subscription costs (30 days of recordings cost £24.99 annually. Nest hello is 5 days of recordings cost £40 Annually)
Free replacement if stolen. Ring will replace your doorbell if it’s stolen (once) Nest don’t offer this in the UK.
Two way communication recordings playback (Ring records the whole two way conversation. Nest Hello only records & plays back the person at the door)
App Alert tones (Choice of 23 different alerts for Rings and Motions. Nest Hello has the Tri Tone alert only meaning it sounds like any generic notification)
Cool down period. (The time between new alert notifications is shorter than the Nest hello. Nest Hello will of course still record that information but you may not get notified of it)

Nest Hello is better for:

Better image quality (Nest is 1600 x 1200 HDR vs Ring Pro at 1920 x 1080)
24/7 recording (Ring Pro only records 60 second clips but if you answer or look at live view there is no limit)
face recognition (Ring Pro can't do this)
Time-lapse feature (Ring Pro can't do this)

The thing people can't seem to agree on is notification delays. Both camps complain of delays whereas some don't have any delay at all. My advice is do some research and make up your own mind with this one.

A lot better than the crappy Ring

Good list. Maybe add

Smart device integration:
Ring Pro - Works best with alexa (allows doorbell notifications, intercom, & live view with Echo Devices, Whereas Hello only offers live view/listening)

Nest Hello - Works best with Google Home (doorbell notifications, intercom, live view). Whereas Ring Pro only gets control of settings on a google home (+ maybe live view on a chromecast??)
LAVA HOT! Not only the best ever price for the Hello. Also a free google home mini.
Purchased. I am satisfied also that google is (at least for now) not going to eliminate all APIs/works with nest.
I read that this isn't great for iOS users. Whenever the doorbell is pressed the push notification to your iPhone follows the same convention as say.. an email notification, so;

If you are on silent you can't hear the doorbell notification
If DnD is enabled the notification wont bypass it
You can't change the notification sound so you can't tell if you got a text message or if someone is knocking at your door.

Any of this still true?
Deal has gone already

Hi, yeah, I've done the measuring but sadly the door fitters have left next to no room. I can fit a standard door bell, but these camera ones are enormous. I need thin and long rather than short and fat...lol
