Does the silver one have a real stainless steel surround or just silver plastic like the others?

After cancelling my order directly from Nest (with install for £229)due to the 6 week delivery date, .I've been waiting for the "Stainless Steel" version to come back in stock on the Screwfix website, which currently comes with free Nest stand worth £34.99

Ordered!

Well, mine came today, but there is a problem! A big effing problem! How in the hell am I supposed to power the thermostat?

All the unboxing videos, show a white 3-pin power adapter and white USB cable.

Mine has none of these!

BUT, it states on the NEST back-plate that connecting to 240v will irreparably damage the NEST.

Guess what? My current thermostat wires are 240v at the moment whilst part of the existing system.

So, do these change to 12v once the 'NEST Heatlink' is connected?

If not, where am I supposed to get power for the nest?

You can change the wires at the heatlink end to the 12v connections making it safe for the nest.

I figured as much, but it could be more clear on the paper sleeve that covers the stat base.
