From Personal experience I run a modern (4 years old) combi-boiler and this has been a very good addition to my smart home. Work well with Amazon's Alexa plus has a useful app.

I saved across Jan, Feb, March and April this year when using my heating £52.00. I got mine for £135.00 from Npower and paid the engineer who serviced my boiler an extra £50.00 to install in. Plus the tracking part of the app which turns my heating off when my wife or I are not at home was not working. I think over the next few years this should save me some money!

I would highly recommend the "Skylark" app for IOS users which is far better better at tracking your location for turning the heating off & on than the Nest App. Works every time without fail. So again this should add to my savings this year. No point heating an empty home.

Brief description below:

More control over your energy The third generation Nest Thermostat learns what you like and creates a schedule for your home. So it could help you save energy. And with a larger display and a sharper resolution, it's simply beautiful.

Good price. These are easy to self install (took me 15 mins)

How does this compare to Hive? I have a really old system for setting heating (you can program days of the week etc) so looking for something I can control on my iPhone remotely but I did like the sound of Hive lightbulbs I can switch on and off remotely too...

Theres plenty of light bulbs that work with nest, Phillips Hue, Lifx Bulbs, Osram Lightify and also Lightwave RF plus many more. Nest would rather work with other companies to make the connected home rather than make everything them selfs.

nest is a bit more clever than hive.. it learns your routines. you can switch this feature off if you want tho

Had one of these fitted about a year ago, fantastic I can turn the heating up if I am out & the weather gets colder. I have just returned from holiday and put the heating into eco whilst I was away and then two days before I was due to return put it back to timed. All very easy to control from the app.

Quick question, lets say your thermostat is set to 21*C and the weather gets colder, do you not still keep your thermostat set to 21*C?

Can this handle Electric Underfloor heating ? Please advice

Do you have to use different apps to control though? Or do they all work through one neat app

Where it's very handy is you can keep it set to a minimum semi confortable temperature and just increase it by a minimum if the wind gets colder. We live on the side of a hill in quite a large house.

It doesn’t go on the app it will have its own unless you use a third party app that has them all on. The Thermostat will use the bulbs to turn on and off when your not at home etc

Sorry; I don’t quite understand. If I buy Hive and Hive bulbs, I can control lighting and heating on one app. If I get Nest with third party compatible bulbs, are they all controllable through Nest app? what I want is something I can click on whilst on holiday and say “turn the bedroom light on” then turn it off a bit later...and program on and off automatically if I want.

Easiest way to describe it is Hive you have to completely control it on your phone, so when your on holiday u have to turn the lights on and off everyday.
Nest will automatically do this for you when your not home/on holiday so you don’t have to.

Thanks!

I would say to everyone that this deal is only for existing customers, not if you are planning to join. As I have spoken with Npower and they have said that the deal is not promised to people who join from today

no it doesn't support electric underfloor heating.

Thanks ordered

ordered thanks ,
Saw Other NEST products are also on offer . If any one interested.

I currently have a programmer which is wired to my boiler. Can I use the existing wiring with Nest or does it have to work wirelessly?
