This is a great price x
The new model looks and feels cheap compared to previous models and it’s locked down to google home, not compatible with Alexa.
Needed three - thanks for posting!

This is the nest e which is the cheaper cut down version. The normal nest still supports Alexa as far I am aware

Correct. I have both models and the “E” is not compatible with Alexa.
Is the 3rd gen worth the £80 odd extra?

Also this is billed as easier to install but don't both of them just require you to wire in the heatlink?
I wonder if nest will continue to support Alexa now that they have been bought over by google

I would have thought so, otherwise they'd be cutting out a sizeable portion of their potential customer base.

The Thermostat E is easier to install as the Heatlink is connected to existing thermostat wires. If you don't have a stat, the full blown Nest is the best one as the Heatlink wires to the boiler however this should only be done by a pro.
It’s battery powered. It just acts as a switch so there’s only 2 wires (like a bimetallic stat). It saves you running a supply to it.

I'd definitely pay an extra £16.01 and get the 3rd gen from CEX. Everyone on the last 3rd gen deal thread received a new item. Plus you get the CEX 24 month warranty
