This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Amazon is selling Nest thermostat at the same price and it is already posted on HUKD but that’s only WHITE version this is the only deal I have come across in COPPER version, which I felt was very smart than the white and black versions.

Also this is the best price as per camelcamelcamel Uk. Could not place camelcamelcamel screenshot as the site is down at the time of posting.

How easy is this to DIY install?

You will have to get a professional to install it as the wires/signals need to be configured with the boiler valves.

Hive is easier to install but has number if disadvantages like -
- Nest would identify if you are not at home by motion sensors and power off heating automatically
- Nest would allow multiple people to control temperatures
- nest would observe what time days and heating you require and based on your behaviour automatically configure it
- geotagging location - it knows you are coming home and keep home warm before you arrive
- design

Hive won’t do any of that, but can be installed by any manual person
White and Black colours are also the same price??

Easy if your electrically minded, I did mine but that was replacing a wireless thermostat already. It has really good diagrams in the box for most installations. You can have a look online at the diagrams first that's what I did. Took me about 30mins to install, hardest part was getting 2 wires in one terminal.

I have been tracking for a month or so and could not find any hence it’s a good deal for me. I checked HUKD as well and could not find any at £180 posted. So may be I missed it

Yeah true - but it’s copper which looks the best - that’s why Amazon has still not reduced the price of the copper one yet.

Hive and Nest install in the exact same way

It's easy if your boiler wiring set up is straightforward. I did mine myself.

I paid £168 with the stand a few months ago (https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nest-smart-thermostat-with-free-stand-screwfix-3295837). Sadly my time machine is out of order at the moment, so this is a pretty good deal for the copper version.
Is this the 3rd generation?

I found it fairly easy, there's lots of guides on YouTube etc to follow. I went from a wired thermostat to the Nest

On the contrary I'm thinking some of nest features are intruding into privacy.

You can’t. Hive isn’t a learning thermostat and takes no account of your location.
John Lewis were happy to price match...so there's that.
A question for anyone who has bought this (as I have done), did your product come with a USB cable and plug adapter for the thermostat?
