Perhaps to partially match the screwfix price, Amazon have further reduced the Nest thermostat to £149. This applies to all colours except white.

The Screwfix deal is the same price but includes a stand, so offers better value, so this offer is only really for people who:-
  • Do not have a local Screwfix (when they start to run out of delivery stock, white' has already gone)
  • Love Amazon
  • Hate stands!

Amazon won't refund the difference on products anymore, they'll ask you to post the item back at your expense and re-order.

I just got £20 back for my echo that was reduced in price by live chat without having to return anything. I think they may look at the buying record to see if people are on the take?

I bought one yesterday, how do I access Live chat ?

Cooper back up to £179

Just ordered black I’ll take the other one back that I ordered yesterday, hope it doesn’t go down even lower tomorrow

The stainless steel one went down yesterday but I wanted the black but that didn't drop. Great deal I've bought the black today from screwfix and will be sending the other back.

Amazon owned product, though.

thanks for the update in price Evilmonkey

had a live chat with amazon - they offered £5 as a gesture of good will but say they don't do post purchase price reduction

brings it down to £149.99 anyway so not returning

I am just hoping now the installation prices won't surge!

I bought it yesterday for £155 at amazon. After talking to live chat the best I could get was £5 amazon credit to my account, not an actual £5 refund. Better than nothing but I wish I waited for todayds screwfix deal!

my item was out for delivery and amazon wouldnt give them the £5 refund, cancelled the order and ordered with screwfix, £5 less and a free stand which i needed anyway so saved me some dosh.

Mega deal!

I just tried live chat but they only offered to cancel the order and get me to re-order it. I asked for a £5 credit but apparently.. " As a service level agent, I am not authorized to provide a price match for the post order issues.". So I said to leave it as it is. Not worth the bother for £5. If it comes up cheaper again tomorrow I may get another and return one.

who hates stands.

I also got the silver one yesterday at £154.99. Emailed Amazon but they wouldn't refund me the difference and said I could refuse the delivery and re-order the item. Surely less hassle for them to just refund me!

"Our prices may increase or decrease based on a number of factors and unfortunately, we can’t offer you a refund for the difference between the price in your order and the lower price you saw on our website."

Just had a look into these for teh first time I was put off my the installation costs, turns out it's pretty straightforward to install on my boiler (greenstar cdi), so may get one next year (cant afford it now). Good price this though, so have some heat.

Just ordered the black model for £150 but it's out of stock so will have to wait till it's back in but great find by EvilMonkey.

I have the same boiler (29cdi) with a salus wireless controller currently fitted.

Have you any instructions how to swap this for a nest?

Just removed my old thermostat.

anyone know if this is enough for it to work, only 2 wires?!

I understand that the colour is the outer ring and this can be white, black, copper or steel, but I have also seen pictures screens of white, black, blue and orange. Is that a configurations setting?

and to help me make up my mind, which do you think looks best?

Only the copper one is available at £149 the others are back up to £199

I just googled it & one of the first posts up was a youtube video from Worcester Bosch explaining how to fit a third party controller, another post was a forum giving someone written instructions. It's just swapping a few wires around in the pull down panel (the one inside after you've pulled off the casing).
Edit:
Here's the forum post:

Here's the YouTube video:

Between the two of them it should be pretty straightforward.

Nest also make a unit for the US market which is not compatible here, but has cooling features. When the nest is heating its Orange, when its doing nothing its Black, Blue would be cooling, not sure on white, but there is a budget nest thermostat coming out which has a white background.

I have purchased the copper from Screwfix,

(just because it was more unique) Black doesn't make the ring obvious, white matches your walls, and silver your door handles, but is more common. The stands and wall plates are white though. So white would match that better. Copper would match any copper pipes, but i'm not placing it anywhere near my radiator.

Does anyone know if the Nest is OK in a busy household, there are always a few people at home? Just wondering if that affects anything
