Literally, plug it in. That's it.

Port 1 or 8 to your internet connection and use the other 8 for devices.

It has 8 ports. You can connect 8 devices together to create a network for sharing files, printers etc. Or you can connect 7 devices and connect 1 to a router to share Internet connection. If you only want to share Internet you don't need a 1 gigabit switch and the £8 100mbps switches will do the job.

Where's the 9th port? 🤔

Yup. Devices will then 'talk' to each other.

Wow I paid £1.82 for this in June 2015. Sat idle for 18 months and finally found a use for it. Dead easy to set up, consider it an multi adapter for computers rather than power. Bought another at a similar price to this earlier on this year as it just works. :-)

Git...calculation fail!

We all index from 0 sometimes

Normally around this price... Got mine for £15.99 7th October.

Ive got one, great and does the job. But price has gone up for this. I got it for under a tenner on amazon prime delivered about a year ago.
I can see the time machine comments coming up but hey just letting you know.

The plastic one looks even better to me with all the cables to the back side. Works out at 14.97!

While most ppl use wifi but nothing beats a wired connection

Possible a different version you are referring to?

Don't doubt yourself, this was indeed £1.82 on June 2nd 2015, I just checked with the Amazon Keepa price comparisson tool, it's a lot more accurate than 3 Camels.
