my m8 has one in his shed bout thirty feet down the garden. the extention lead question depends on quality of wiring in the mains circuit

do you have to use a router for these things,or can i just plug one into my modem, and get 2 others, plug into p.c and xbox and away i go?

modem?, do you mean usb modem then no but u can use the internet connection sharing on your connected pc and link to the netowrk attached to these,
a router would be a better way to go, give your isp a ring and cadge a free one..

I already have a couple of the ebuyer value 85MB adaptors, would these work with in conjuction with those?
