Ive got some Ubiquiti AP's that run in the house, would this be an upgrade on these units?

Unlikely, in most scenarios the wireless coverage provided by >1 ap would surpass that of a single router.
Wasn't this one £49.99 a bit ago? Was also that price @ Currys

That would depend on the quality of the router and the quality of the AP. I have the R7000 which is a better model and actually purchased cheaper than the one posted. I live in a 4 bed house and my speed drops from 75 Mbps supply to only 56 Mbps to the farthest point away from the router which is one of the back bedrooms. No need for AP's in my house as the router is well capable of supplying a decent,t internet speed to all rooms in the house.

Would this replace an EE Brightbox, and can this have DD-WRT custom firmware installed on it?
