I was looking for a new router/modem with USB 3.0 for file sharing and saw this price drop today near to its lowest on camelcamelcamel.

Great reviews for a mid-range router.

-With built-in modem, just plug-in the device to the phone line and get fast internet connection with easy installation
-Gigabit Wi-Fi speeds with support for additional interference-free (DFS) 5 GHz channels
-Longer range, enhanced throughout with three high-powered external antennas
-Share your USB hard drive and printer with all your devices using two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 (10x faster than USB 2.0) ports
-NETGEAR genie app - easily manage, monitor and control your home network from PC, tablet or smartphone

Would this work to replace my Virgin Superhub 2ac, and how much better in comparison would it be. We have multiple wifi devices connected at once 2 ipads 2 laptops and about 5 phones at any given time plus satellite tv, smart tv and pc connected through the ethernet.

If i buy this would i see improvement in my connection ?

Thanks Just went for this as have bt hub 5 which is a bit ropey or can drop and be odd at times.

What you would do is put your virgin hub in 'modem only' mode and then connect it to this router. You will most likely see an improvement but its quite difficult to be certain. This modem also features beamforming which will hopefully improve your signal strength to your device.

the d6300 could possibly be cheaper and if you're on virgin's cable, you shouldn't need the vdsl modem(bt/openreach fibre) which it does without (this has ADSL & VDSL). That being said, i have this one myself. Got a cracking deal on it from currys for 65 but think it was mispriced. There will def be bigger and better out there, but it caters to my needs and like you, multiple devices connected without any issues

The Virgin Superhub 3 is a big improvement, may be worth asking Virgin for an upgrade in the first instance

IMHO, and I emphasis that part, I would personally only look to replace my Superhub 2 with a MU-MIMO router as I have lots of WiFi connected devices.

Doesn't really cover more than 4 and mostly only new devices, though I get you said for your own circumstances

Price drop to £76.28 directly from Amazon and £73.98 Sold by: Western Sadhu

Just bought from Amazon to replace my talktalk router which is having slowdown issues via a switch (i think maybe due to lack of 1000mps port in the router and it not being able to handle the extra packets..) Lots of mixed reviews on the d6400 but mostly due to the rrp being too high for what you get and lack of USB 3.0 (amazon has the specs wrong) but for this price it now looks pretty decent and will also hopefully improve my wireless range. Heat.

I purchased this @ the price of £80.40, then upon receipt realised as you said its actually USB 2.0. Called Amazon and they offered me a discount which made it worthwhile to keep. So I'd suggest you do the same if they haven't changed the description already.

Wow, I got off the phone to Amazon, they were really rude and were telling me it had USB 3.0 and that I received the wrong item despite emailing them. They wouldn't discount at all. I tested the router (after the rude service) and it made no improvement over my talktalk router anyway so will be returning it. Would have kept it for a discount though. First time I have had a bad experience with Amazon they are usually really good. The guy i spoke to mumbled and I had to repeat my postcode 7 times to then be put on hold and called back an hour later to be told "yeh it is out of my hands?". Oh well.
