Just in time too. My current router finally died on me yesterday, after a week of loss connections.
Decided to use work PC toshop around for repalcement and found thsi post.

Even if only V3, still a damn good modem/router for under £20.

Just ordered mine. Hopefully should ararive next day or two. will come back and say what version it is. (Though at that price I'm expecting V3).

Hot! ordered - Doubt it will arrive in the next day or two....Play.com are quite slow, 3-5 days!

Hi,

Your linked item is not modem-router, and so is suitable for cable or use with a separate ADSL modem. So fine for use with Virgin cable etc....

Fish

think its expensive for a g router?

Anyone know if this version uses the broadcom chipset please ?

Had a this same kit for 3 years, and the V3 router has given me no problems. In my case the USB dongle was a V2, but does require a fair amount of power from the USB port. The dongles are meant to be popular as they are capable of packet injection.

I quite like the Netgear routers the admin is ok too if you need to tinker with settings. I have had a few problems with the v1 adapters though on both Vista and Win7 dropping the connection.

I had one of these for years - good price for a nice bit of kit.

Great find, many thanks.

Very tempted as in the look-out for a new router

Im using this one at the moment, have been since 2007 Netgear

Is this one as good, better or worse? Does anyone know?
Thanks for any help!!

i would say the one you have is better

The N version is 108G compared to the 54G of this model, so in theory should be quicker in wireless mode.

Of course if possible you should always use a wired connection for reliability of signal [to you PC say]

This is a cracking deal for a very decent piece of kit!

The WG111v2 adaptor software change the logon screen so that you have to logon rather than just auto to desktop, this can be fixed with a registry tweak but just to let people know. Otherwise great piece of kit, router is very easy to setup and configure, mine is still going after about 4 years though it doesn't seem to sync at the max rate with my line anymore. Hot

Do these routers get really hot?, like other Netgears.

Tempting to buy one as a back up.....

Is 4years for a router ok, or how long do they suppose to 'last' so to speak?

Expired now, looks like a possible misprice

Also, on amazon it says System Requirements: UNIX, Apple MacOS, Novell NetWare, Linux, Microsoft Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP
What about Windows 7?

LOL..well that solves my dilemma of getting one or not!!!

Let us know if they honour the price

Thats ok then.
Would have been a shame if it had been a Belkin and you'd forgotten the Lifetime Guarantee. :-D

My order status changed to "Packing" eariler this afternoon. Fingers crossed....

Also, I've had no problmes using my old DG834G with Win7.

It doesn't do it on mine, not on XP, Vista or Windows 7. If it's asking you to logon, that's likely to be due to your network settings.

The router is independant of the operating system, it will work on any. The Dongle is fine with Windows 7, the drivers are on the netgear website. Failing that, you can use the realtek RTL8187 drivers.

My order has now gone to " Awaiting Stock "..:(

These routers come with small clip-on "feet" that you can use to stand the router vertically. This will allow the router to run much cooler an if placed flat on a surface.
Fantastic price for these routers, ordered 2.

Many thanks to the boss4 for spotting this at £19.99.
If I knew how to add H&R on this new style HUKD layout, I would.
