It came recommended to me by my ISP (Zen) and most reviews seem good. Any suggestion for something better, I'm not really sure what to get to replace my 7 year old DG834?

Depending on how much you want to spend and line length a TP-Link TD-W8960N might be good. Probably get a 5.1 revision too as it's been available for some time.

W8960N uses Broadcom chipset and meant to better at handling long telephone lines. Not sure if you can tweak SNR setting.

+1 for the Nighthawk enabled routers. I have the R7000 and it's much more stable and faster with at least another 20m coverage than my old Netgear N600 (DGND3700v2). For £30, you probably can't go too wrong with this but you can definitely do better with a few more quid.

Router will be wired to pc and only other use will be wifi around the house, i.e. something 'basic' like this should be good enough for me?

Wireless would just drop out, firmware was very unreliable at the time and next to nothing in terms of support from netgear. They had already started recommending a later model which convinced me to sell. DG834 for me was far superior prior to DGN2200

Went with billion 7800dxl after and its been rock solid every since.

If you go with DGN2200 I would ask Amazon to check if V3 or V4 are stocked. As the V4 uses a newer BCM43217 chip than the V3 BCM43227. But probably just Amazon listing details are out of date.

Can turn on/off wi-fi by pressing button on front of router. No need to have a computer connected to router to turn wireless on/off by logging in to router UI

I have found dgn2200 twice on the bottom of the router but nothing at the end of it.

It could be you have the original version hence no revision number at end of model name.

Edit: Looking at firmware version it probably is a V1 as that firmware version isn't listed under later router revisions. Combined with lack of version after model name on label.

I thought that could be true but i would still of expected a v1

Think that's just Netgear style, as there is no certainty a model will be popular and have revisions.

Could see if any details on label relate to details on WikiDevi for the different versions. For example FCC ID.
wikidevi.com/wik…0v1 (can switch between revisions in bottom right corner).

There might be a Telnet command you can run to find out which chipset is used in the device, but I don't have the knowledge to assist.
