I needed a wifi access point for my new CCTV system as I didn't fancy trying to run an ethernet cable into the loft and I don't have ring-main power up there so no powerline adaptor either. This was the cheapest AC1200 Dual-band unit with an ethernet port that I could find. Admittedly, it's only a 100Mbps ethernet connection but I seriously doubt that will be the bottleneck that stops me achieving the theoretical maximum 600Mbps throughput
