Or you could get the metal housing GS308 unmanaged for £18.58.

I own both and didn't find any difference in usage.

They're both gathering dust at the moment as I've switched them out for the TP LINK SG108E which is £24.99 but allows you to create your own VLAN, prioritise ports etc. Well worth it for £1 more than this one. Allowed me to create a separate VLAN for my HDMI network sender so it wouldn't ping every port and also allowed me to prioritise traffic to my server.

Is this one not a newer model and cheaper?

not no
Will a Cat 6 15 metre cable be enough to manage the traffic from the switch to the router? Or will it cause issues?
Cat 6 for 100m would be fine (total end 2 end between nodes). Cables of poor quality might not do the edge distances but nothing to stop any if it as copper is copper and it's just connects.
Think you’ve added this to the Nintendo Switch group by accident. Although a Netgear Switch appears much more affordable

Just checked, it has wall mount points on the back. As for configuring with a Mac, I'm not sure. I just used the CD provided which installs software on a PC.

Apparently there is a web interface but I've never tried it. From memory I do remember people being able to install the software on a Linux machine if that helps.

Out of interest, what do you mean by ‘ping every port’? Even a dumb switch like the one in this deal would have a forwarding table and therefore know which device is connected to which port as long as it’s sending traffic every 5 minutes...Unless I’ve misunderstood what you’ve said

I've got a HDMI sender/receiver over network. The dumb POS tries to send data to every port in the network as you can have multiple receivers. Totally crippled my network, only resolution was a VLAN.

Ah wow! That is a crappy design Yeah, VLAN would be your only option then!
Poor value. If you want vlan functionality then the TP Link SG108G is only £1 more. If you don't the the TP Link SG1008D-V6 is only £16.99 on Amazon.
Slightly off topic but can anyone recommend me a good value gigabit ethernet router for my ADSL internet connection?

I've got a 100 BaseT which is fine for everything except streaming large video files from NAS. 4 ethernet ports essential.
