Part of amazons lightning deal, looks like the cheapest it's been, still some left at this price. Be quick!

Heat!

I got in there and got one ordered. Seems good value! HOT

info: Due to end at 2:40pm today if not sold out beforehand - 77% claimed as at 12:16.

Will let me replace a previous HUKD £10 On Networks from the summer where the PSU has decided to whistle (should have listened to the reviews saying this was a common problem) - at least eBuyer quickly refunded.

(Interesting to read the Amazon website's Netgear switch comparison table which illustrates just how varied the internal features/memory/table of a switch can be.)

Damn too late...none left now

Went on the wait list and got one

Yup me too, I have one now - good find Op, thanks.

cheers op

It doesn't say metal in the title, you're in trouble.

lighting deal sold out

sold out now

Yep, was gonna order several for work but it wouldn't let me order more than one, lol.

Managed to get this, good price considering the bandwidth, I will use this to go between PC, NAS, AP and Cable modem as it should take everything I throw at it.

That's a general Amazon LIGHTNING DEAL condition - ie can place just ONE of the item in your basket and can do it only ONCE and then have (normally) 15 minutes to either complete checkout or lose the deal.
ie Can't even buy it later (subject to availability & deal deadline) - each Amazon a/c has just one chance to claim & put in basket.

JUMBO ETHERNET FRAMES
This GS308 supports 9K Jumbo Frames so potential networking enhancement...
"Jumbo Frame Support = 9720 bytes"
per
netgear.co.uk/hom…spx
whereas most Gigabit Ethernet ports have their Jumbo Frame ability defaulted to 'Disabled' [mine is/was] so tips here for example...
maximumpc.com/art…mes

PS
Extra bonus - found my old NAS supports Jumbo Frames too - so this GS308 could become main switch! Gotta work out now if having some devices Jumbo, but presumably loads of others TVs/BluRay/etc not, is a valid set up...

Back on today at 1.40 for those that missed it (like me). Any links to some cheap Ethernet cables?

Some ideas for you...
I usually buy mine from eBuyer. Best to get Cat 5e (or ideally most future proof Cat 6) for Gigabit .
Can sometimes find some high quality Belkin leftovers in Poundland, though not spotted recently.
Otherwise some Clearance deals (colourful ones with some difficulty in being clear what Category) at Screwfix

There's also a similar TP-Link TL-SG108E 8-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch coming up at 1:40pm on Amazon UK Lightning Deals - can't see this Netgear. Actually the TP-Link may be better - eg indicator LEDs re 1000 v 10/100 link & 16K Jumbo versus 9K

Actually the TL-SG108E seems a far higher spec generally including 'Easy Smart' basic remote management/monitoring software. Plus Netgear can't make their mind up on the true spec of the GS308, whereas TP-Link seem to have clearer ideas in their documentation. Be interesting to see what price the TP-Link is offered at in 5 mins time...
It's £16.99 v £24.99 (and £12.99 we paid for GS308)

Well haven't tested out Jumbo Frames yet (seems risk of losing comms from non Jumbo devices).
But can report the Ethernet activity LEDs, while not sophisticated enough to indicate speed 10/100/1000, are damn bright lol.
