When would you ever think 8 network cables running to your desk leg is a good idea though?!
Unless you are running some business critical system, buy one off eBay. Or two if you are worried about it failing.

Got a Netgear 24+4 port, full POE for £60 a few months ago.

That won't be a Gigabit switch for that price.
Out of curiosity what are people using PoE for at home? I'm struggling to think of what I could power off it except ARM dev boards and my wifi AP. Everything else with ethernet wants to draw a few hundred watts

I plan on a ubiquity UAP and a couple IP cameras, the rest will be for future proofing.

Only 100W of total power though - would prefer to have the buffer of 50% more

When your desk is crammed around 14 other desks and you are expected to build PCs and laptops on a daily basis.

The switch you have linked only has 4 gigabit ports, all 24 in the OP are gigabit.
