IF VOTING COLD, PLEASE EXPLAIN

Best powerline adapters out there.

Better throughput than the gigabit (1000mbps) ones out there running on the poor/unreliable Gigle chip GGL541 (Belkin/Solwise etc).

Better performance than the 200mbps adapters plus with Netgears support + updates.

These run on the newer Atheros chip.

£80 can buy a good gigabit switch and a lot of Cat6 cable......

I know cabling can be awkward to hide but it can always be routed externally

still voted hot btw as can't be found cheaper which is after all the point in this site...

stupid comment as that will take hours to implement properly and routed externally - yuck! 500gb is more than most require anyway

good price as about same price as the netgear 200mpbs ones

Why is everyone voting cold?

Show me better performing units for less (or a better deal on these). Yes there are 200mbps ones for £35 on Ebuyer and yes they may be ok for some (reported faults after 6months+). These are better built and have better throughput - with better support.

Last post was more expensive + got heat.. last post was not cold.

Good price for 500mbps so have some heat

200mbps suits me so I'll stick with the ebuyer option

£80 can also go a good way to hiring a pro to do the job, who knows the best hiding place for cables.
It may mean a lot of moving furniture but a hardwired network will only add value to your house.

I haven't voted either way, If I needed to, I'd run some cat6 to extend my network

It's kind of irrelevant whether it's 'better' to install cables or not.

These products exist for people to use when running cables are not an option and want a better service than WiFi.

which one was that mate ??

Good price, but many will vote cold with that attitude

Attitude?

I'm just confused why people bother commenting on a product made for a specific purpose saying it's better just to do this / that.

Obviously it's better to run gigabit connections here there and everywhere...

The point is, they have a use. It's not everyones cup of tea sure. Why not discuss the positives of the technology instead of posting useless statements.

Because of the eBuyer Set that were posted! ebuyer.com/pro…719 They may not be as good quality wise but they are cheap as hell.

Have you seen reviews of the chip inside those units?. Yeah they may be cheap, but if you want disconnections all the time go for it. Look up Belkin or Solwise Gigabit Homeplugs.

I personally would rather spend a bit more and get a decent stable product. You won't find these Netgears cheaper, hence the post..

The throughput is likely to be better on the value Ebuyer 200mbps units than those Ebuyer 1000mbps units with the GGL541 chip over any distance.

For £20 more, these Netgears are a no brainer, just take a look at smallnetbuilder.com.

Unfortunately, most people on here just look at the price and say 'hey something similar to that was xx amount cheaper the other day' - COLD.

Nevermind, maybe someone will spot the deal of who it it may be of use to.
