Easy as this is my first posted Hot Deal and its a 16 port Netgear Prosafe GS116UK Gigabit switch.

I used the 10% offer code NWRK10 which took this down to £64.25p with free 3-5 day delivery.

Best Buy / Amazon etc all around £120 - £130 for this.

Credit for this to Chris who texted me earlier although I found the new code !! I believe you can go for Quidco as well but it may affect the 10% offer code....your call.

Code NWRK10

End value is £64.25 but if I have posted the price with or without discounts in breach of rules apologies and mods please do your thing!

OP, top post and love the avatar I have been looking to upgrade my network to 1000mbps for a while but couldn't justify the cost. I have also bought 2 of the smaller GS108s as I needed to swap all the switches to create a gigabit network (New virgin superhub is already gigabit) So for £127.86 I have upgraded my entire network for less than the original price of the GS116 so thanks again for the heads up.

looked at this but decided 'managed' is better? - not sure of the brand name though?

You going to implement traffic management or VLAN's?

what does this do?

is it like a router?

great price for a very good switch. These are rock solid and you just plug them in and off you go. 99.9% of home users do not need a managed switch and they just add another layer of complexity which will cause you grief unless you know what you are doing.

If you must have a managed switch then look at the HP Procurve, often available brand new and boxed on your favourite auction site for around half price.

OK price for those with only 16 computers.

Considering it or the Tenda as I currently run half my network on an 8 port 100mbit switch and the rest on a 5 port Gbit switch.

Wondering what the power consumption is compared to my current setup.

you'll be lucky if this pulls 10-15W when it's fully loaded on all 16 ports.
