No.
Also compatible for PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad and Android devices(Requires a modem).
Used to own this and was ok for a while but then kept intermittently failing. Spent days on phone to virgin thinking it was an issue with them but turned out it was the router. Changed to an Asus Router which is superb.

No you need the Netgear D7000 if you want one with a built in modem

It's in relation to Amazon Alexa.

There is an Alexa Skill for certain NETGEAR devices so you can trigger certain functions (e.g. turning on/off guest wifi) via voice commands.

It does not have a VPN client. It has a VPN server so you can connect to YOUR network.

I connect to this router set up at a home overseas daily via OpenVPN. In fact after Apple stopped supporting PPTP VPN it is my only way to route traffic.

I suggest researching before spouting. This fully supports dd-wrt and VPN. It's supports OpenVPN out of the box also.

Just because you want a modem others might not......

Excellent router. Hot.

Works well including selective routing, but you'll need either dd-wrt or TomatoUSB for this. Both work well.

I believe TomatoUSB supports this.

Yes it does via pptp and OpenVPN please research before responding rubbish. I have used this on both purevpn and nordvpn myself.

ANYONE GOT A GOOD MODEM ROUTER SUGGESTION FOR TELEPHONE LINE ADSL
I bought the R7800 on primeday and connected it to my BT homehub 5. The improvement in wifi stability and speed was substantial.
I don't know how BT can claim to have the best wifi and keep a straight face. I don't anyone who uses a homehub who doesn't have problems with it.

How did you connect to HOME hub 5? Any specific settings in Netgear? Any special mode you need to run Netgear in?

I have a Homehub 5 too, pretty poor range and stability tbh.. you'd recommend this as an improvement?
Thanks.

I think I'd recommend anything as an improvement over a homehub.

I had nodered doing a speedtest every 30 minutes. It was set up to email me if it dipped below 10mbit. Never emailed me. The graphs showed a solid connection on a network connection.
Most mornings I woke up to find my wifi running at 3mbit and needed a reboot.

My router guided me through it. Connect it's wan connection to the homehub and set up the wifi to use what the homehub used.
It uses a 10.0.01/24 network, but allows you to connect to the homehub.
You need to disable the wifi on the homehub and set the new router up as a dmz.
If you're using BT TV you'll need to plug it into the homehub.

Got mine from ebay for around £20, loads on there, so much better than using the home hub.
I have had this router for few years and also started experiencing problems with wifi when upgrading to the latest firmware such as dropped 2.4ghz wifi.
and it does ddrt

Please share link to one you got, did you put the virgin superhub to modem only mode and add Asus as router ?

Any other recommendations for router to work with virgin media ?

Do you know if you are able to use one with built in modem with virgin media ? Getting real crap speeds and range with Virgin at the mo.Thanks

and it does ddrt

also:

* there used to be buids of asus-merlin too, not sure if they still keep those up to date.
* advancedtomato

Them main things this does not do are:

* mimo, and mu-mimo
* mesh wifi for multiple units. (seamless handoff)

For that you would need some ubiquity hotspots or whichever alternative mesh wifi solution you find is best. Reason this router doesnt do these ^ above wifi things:

They are all held as proprietary / closed source IP by Quallcomm. So there is no open source solution for those. You can buy hotspots in addition to this device (being your main router)... It just gets kindda expensive.

31476499-5shf1.jpgThis has been working faultlessly alongside my Virgin Hub . No more WiFi dropouts and rock solid connection and speeds. Also for me a lot more user friendly with an excellent Android app.

Does it give you a bigger range through the house also ?

Yes I get solid consistent 110 MBS (pay for100) all around the house. The Netgear fluctuated and often the WiFi would fail all together.
