Excellent router and easy to manage if you know your stuff. Had one for 12 months and it has worked flawlessly.
Great price
Wow - great price
So you cannot plug phone connection into this, a separate modem is needed

Can I use this with virgin

You should be able too, yes. I have an additional Router (similar to this one) plugged into my Virgin Superhub that gives another (stronger) WIFI signal in my house. You connect from one of the WAN sockets on the back of the Superhub into the one labelled on the back of the Netgear.

Buy this from Amazon and return the maplin one in store if it's near.

Yes you can use this with virgin media as I have both, just make sure you put your hub into modem mode otherwise you will end up with double NAT.
Thanks Op, ordered.
Is it possible to install any Vpn software to change the geographical location, something similar to router from NordVPN?

Cancel your order and ask for a return, maplin is a joke, would never buy from them again...
I've cancelled my Maplin order (or requested it anyway) and have reserved one at my local Currys for pickup later today.

I will be putting Advanced Tomato on it straight away, like DD-WRT but with a nicer interface - have been using it for a few years now, highly recommended.

Yep, I have the r7800. Won't be able to do it with stock firmware though, you'd have to load dd-wrt or tomato.
5% Quidco at currys/pc world as well - that rate ends today though
Boo! out of stock now....:(

I wouldn't, it was terribly unstable ended up going back to DD-WRT

Do you think Vodafone are going to give you the username and password?
Hot, very hot, installed dd-wrt on it and then openvpn, demenoid and piratebay back and kodi box gets all the streams back, virgin, sky and bt now are blocking. Instructions how to do it are online and easy to follow, just a vpn to find that does openvpn, there are plenty around £4 to 10 a month. Thanks OP
Bought, even though i do not even know if i need it!
Can someone tell me a few benefits of using this over my Virgin superhub please?

I have 2 laptops that I use WIFI with. 1 Computer that i have hooked up via Ethernet, 1 Computer that I plan to put in the bedroom which I will probably use a Powerlink (or Wifi if I had signal) and a Microserver that stores 12TB of data that everyone accesses hooked up using Powerlink.
The Superhub room is the only room that has any decent Wifi signal.

Will this help me with what I am using ??

EDIT: Picture of house layout
EDIT2: Prob not a good idea as I thought it was....

I'd be interested in what VPN you find. What are your requirements? Not part of 14 eyes? Torrents?
I've just bought this Netgear Nighthawk.
I have put Virgin Media Super Hub 3 into Modem Mode..
It is connected it says, but no Internet.. After following the instructions!.
Can anyone help me resolve this connection problem PLEASE...
Thank you

Vodafone now provide username and password instantly. I asked via live chat and they gave it
Nice deal, ta! I switched to Vodafone from BT and have been using Vodafone router in modern mode with BT Super Hub (HH6) providing WiFi 📶; Vodafone happily gave me my broadband ID and password after i complained about their router, and their internet speed that turned out to be 20% shower than BT on the same line and same package. This solution was ugly, but better than just using the Vodafone router. I reckon the Netgear router will improve performance all round and i should be able to sell the BT router, recouping some of the cost. Best to keep the Vodafone one, because in event of service issues they will want me to plug it back in... And of course no one will buy it!!
similar question, ive got virgin cable 200mbps, will i still get same speeds when setting virgin hub to modem and using this router?

How do you set the Vodafone router in modem mode? I cannot find the option
If I didn't already have an Asus RT-AC66u I'd be all over this.

Countless times friends and family complain about their rubbish internet and almost every time its because they're using the rubbish ISP supplied modem router.

If you have BT Fibre or similar, get this and an Openreach modem off eBay. The BT Home Hubs to my knowledge do not have an option for modem mode.

If you have Virgin, set your 'Superhub' (such an ironic name) to modem mode and plug this into it either LAN 1 or 4 on the Superhub depending on which model you have.

You should expect to get better speeds and range particularly if you're ISP router has internal antennas.

Heat added!

I've got an AC66u which I used to use with Virgin in modem mode, but the BT Smart Hub is an excellent wifi access point and I doubt you'll get much improvement using a Netgear instead. You're right, the Smart Hub does not have a modem mode, and what I miss is the inability to set up a guest network.
I have a nowtv hub (which is basically a sky product). Can I use it as a standalone router for nowtv/sky, or can I use it connected to the former?

I have an r7000 plugged into my smart hub, stronger more reliable signal than the smart hub.
Well worth getting and if you have kids it is also now far better support software as you can turn individual devices off or on and there is a timer option too so you can turn things like games off while leaving internet on.

Still needs to be able to time each device however I'm sure at some point they will add that feature
hardware wise this is very similar to the asus ac68u which i have been waiting for to come down in price. this one however seems very unreliable from what ive read and that's mainly due to the stock firmware. this is a great price but i think im still gonna hold tight for the asus.
