Now that the Ebuyer deal has gone up in price, this is the cheapest place to get the bare shell of the a "best of the lower end" (in my opinion) NAS.

Throw in the 500Gb drive offer too, and its a deal!

EDIT - 4.5% Quidco!

I would say the Netgear Stora for about £60 is a better deal, especially considering it is wireless and you get a free 500GB drive (after sending off for one) included...

It's not wireless, this one has the same free disk offer, they are aimed at different users, the Stora is cheap and cheerful, this much more versatile and argubly much better quality.

Both are bargains, just depends what you want from it!

+1 - The stora is essentially a rebranded White NAS from Netgear aimed at the casual User, but it has its share of problems (check reviews and forums). Unlock / hack it and it can do a lot more, but then thats not its target market - I class it as an external drive with the abilty to do mirroring

The ReadyNAS is a step-up (with the accompanying price) - Caddied drives, much better build quality, extra USB ports over the stora to perform backups to external disc / hook up a printer (If I recall it will work as a print server). It also doesnt try to charge for "premium services" and has a bittorrent client built in as standard...

You take your choice, but personally I would see myself getting more frustrated with what the stora *wouldnt* do...

why is this cold?

that may well be the cheapest atm, certainly of the bigger retailers it seems to be.
depending on how much storage you need, buying the higher base capacity drives + free larger drive may work out cheaper though if any deals on those atm.
