Just joshing

All these type of products don't fix acne. I used a site called Acne Einstein to help, eventually found how to keep mine under control. Diet does have an effect, latest studies show that it does. I also use A.Vogel Neem cream and a Lumie light I got from eBay. These have made the most difference to my skin. Salicyclic acid/Benzoyl Peroxide just perpetuate the problem. Keep it simple and put the least amount of stuff on your skin as you can.

Well spotted. People will be all over this like a rash...

I bought this usef once my face went dry & flakey

Everything is worth a try! People that have never had any spots or acne, don't understand how hard it is to find something that works. Everyone's skin is different so all products will work differently!

me and the other half used this the other day and it caused a skin irritation to us both.

Don't buy this stuff! Nor any others with the same writing on the bottles! I bought the grapefruit one for 49p from a cheapo shop, and my face went blotchy for about a week, the skin peeled all over it, it itched and then started burning about 3 days after too! My skin didn't return to normal for about 2 weeks!!! Seriously, do NOT buy this!

I've been using Duac for over 2 years now and it works wonders.
I recently read that prolonged use of Benzoyl Peroxide can increase risk of cancer though, which freaked me out a bit. Something about free radicals.

You weren't supposed to use it on your 'privates'!

Free radicals...
What a term!!!
Lol. Gets thrown about everywhere and hardly anyone knows what it means. It is a mechanism to a chemical reaction. Free radicals are kinda like what happens if you split chlorine homolitically.

They work, however I find they eventually exacerbate the condition. Also BP is pro oxidant. Acne is a complex pro inflammatory condition. There's a number of factors involved, the science is out there and the site I mentioned earlier has good information, and you dont have to buy anything from the site. I didn't get Acne until I was 41, I'm now 44. Human biology is massively complex and not fully understood, using the available science now, there's way to tackle this condition. Doctors can only give you a partial solution, the rest is up to you. I've been researching it for a few years now and I've found ways to control the condition but not cure it. Next is my diet

Same has happened to me. My skin has gone so dry and blotchy it's unreal. I only used this once. Absolute cr*p. Wish I never got it. There's a wedding tonight and I'm going to miss it as my skin has gone so bad :-(

Smells like disable toilet hand wash. Just to let you know...

Only thing that helped my skin was Roaccutaine. But even following my 9 month Roaccutaine course, eating pasta would still give me spots. STAY AWAY FROM PASTA EVERYONE!

Speaking from 20 years of experience, FWIW.

You could same the same with dairy products though. Some people see a massive improvement when they cut dairy from their diets, others see little difference. I personally haven't tried it as I love tea too much but there is no guarantee when it comes to treatments for acne. It's all trial and error.

roaccutaine is a very powerful treatment you can only get from a specialist or hospital.
it can mess up a lot of your blood levels and you need regular blood tests.
I finished my course last year and it worked great but slowly the symptoms are coming back x

I would recommend clearasil 5 in 1 scrub. Seems to be helping and after trying so many washes in the past few years, i think this is the best one.. it is quite a bit of money but everythings worth a try!

drinking a lot of water and cutting out sugary stuff helps me. When I do have a few days of binging on chocs, I do breakout.
I remember it used to annoy me so much when I was younger as nothing was working so I used to wash my face with diluted dettol. lol

neutrogena products i have always found pretty good, never used this one though. for the best results i find drinking approx 8 glasses of water a day, then morning and night use a wash like this followed by a toner and always a moisturiser. these kind of washes take oil from the skin but also cause skin to over produce sebum ( the oil which causes blocked pores) which causes acne. A moisturiser is very important to stop this from happening,i find a tea tree moisturiser best.

AVOID - this is a foaming, detergent based cleanser that will strip skin oils and is potentially drying and irritating for all skin types. The active ingredient 'Salicylic Acid' is a great ingredient for acne prevention but in a cleanser it will not be on the skin long enough to work.

haha wished i could of read the writing so i knew

I had acne as a teen and I used to use neutrogena stuff too, tried everything. Went to the doctors and was advised to leave it alone, makeup and chemical filed washes just aggravate it, use the most plane stuff you can, a none perfumed sensitive skin mild soap, the most basic none perfumed moisturiser you can get and stop using liquid foundation, just use a bit of powder if that.

and do you know what? The doctor was right once I got rid off all the spot treatments its calmed down, just soap and water with a mild moisturising lotion is best, I use natural oils, and the oil cleansing method is good if you got blackheads works better then any off the shelf blackhead wash or mask.

have some heat this summer

I think things for your skin are so personal to the person, it's impossible to say 'don't buy this', you can surely only give your opinion? People's skin is going to react differently to different things.

My opinion is this doesn't make me worse or better. It does dry your skin so I suppose it's good if you have naturally oily skin, but if you have dry skin it would probably aggravate it. I have sensitive skin and this doesn't irritate it, but it also doesn't seem to be making my blemishes go away.

For 49p you can't go wrong. Try it, if it works then you are quids in, if it doesn't then the worst is that you've lost 49p and made your skin a bit dry for a few days.

Hi, you must have had acne quite severe to use roaccutane, try reading that site I mentioned. The bloke does sell a more in depth guide to what to use, but you don't need that, there's enough articles on there that give you plenty of information. I find less is more, so less products. Also I can recommend the lumie acne clear light I got it used on eBay for £50, it's time consuming though, but has made a difference. A.Vogel Neem cream helps me as well and it's cheap, can find on Amazon UK.

What you've probably read is a scare story that basically twists the fact that benzoyl peroxide increases sensitivity to UV light which is why sunscreen lotion is recommended during treatment. Too much UV light leads to free radicals which leads to skin cancer. Used as directed, there is no increased risk of cancer so don't worry about it.

I've used this before and come up in a really sore rash. would never use it again!

Got this deal a few weeks ago but the family think its hand wash and judging by some of the comments it may be the best things its used for rather than on the face

There's unsuprisingly a huge number of "treatments" for acne. I tried numerous treatments but the main thing that got rid of mine was using the sunbed. That or I simply got old enough for my hormones to balance out. My diet isn't the best as it always has been throughout.

I would be more inclined to believe that your genetics and hormone levels may make you more susceptable to certain environmental influences such as diet rather than being able to ever conclusively prove that diet specifically causes acne. There are many effective treatments so it's worth going to your GP to discuss your options as usually a combination of treatments has a higher efficacy. However it's a problem that can be unique to people so a treatment or product that someone swears by may have no affect on you so try to balance your budget with something that has at least some clinical evidence.

For the price worth a try, heat
