and that certain french lager is k1664.co.uk
Love 1664! Is this a good alternative?
1664 is from Belgium
It's in line with another of Aldi's blatant copies:

Just finished dry Jan, so to celebrate I’m gonna try 16 cans of this. Cheers

Dunno, never tried it- I haven't seen it in my local Aldi for a while. Has to be worth a try at £1.15.

Your are quite wrong that it is a copy. In this case, Newcastle produces the stuff for Aldi and they just sell it under a different name. They don't copy anything, they are such a big player that they easily can make a deal with almost any brand company.

Are you sure? I found a review that says North Bridge Ale is brewed by Marston's.

In any case, I've found out the Newcastle Brown is now brewed by Heineken in the Netherlands. Disappointing.

This is the normal price and there is nothing new about it. However, it's a better drink than Carlsberg, Carling etc...

Just now actually tried it and fair play it’s very nice . Doesn’t have the tang of 1664 ( which I actually quit like) but it’s a lot nicer than the Stella rip off that Aldi also does so I’m happy and will definitely buy again

Yeah, I like the tang too, but I’ll give this a try thanks and cheers. Ps can you copyright a year
Aldi's brown ale isn't a patch on Newcastle Brown Ale. The original usually works out cheaper than Aldi's version anyway per ml.

Also cheers OP, kronenbourg is one of my favourite lagers so will give this a bash.
Bought some today, will let you know tomorrow if im not too hungover if theyre OK
asda do a decent french lager for £2.25 (4 cans) not as strong as this but nice stuff
