This is the new Nintendo 3DS XL that is not out in the uk yet and won't be on general sale here until some time in 2015.

The system is 100% compatible with all UK DS and 3DS titles due to the PAL system and Nintendo region settings and this is covered by nintendos WW warranty. The price of this is the same as a new current gen 3ds xl in most places but this has the faster processor, nfc, extra control buttons and better 3d screen.

This is a great price as when it does go on sale here I would expect it to start around 200 so you get a better 3ds for a cheaper price that will work with games from the stores over here with no issues.

This is shipped from the uk so you can get before Christmas and with no import costs on top.

damn if I hadn't just picked up a Wii U I might just for this. Seen some reviews and they all say it's a marked improvement on the 3DS - the 3D tech is better as it adds eye tracking. The 2nd analog nub/stick works well and all the browsing features are faster now. Seems like a no brainer if you want a 3DS so why is this cold?

It's decent deal, because;

My concern is the price for one. Whilst it may well retail at £200 upon release, this is still unconfirmed and there will be plenty of deals when it comes out. Also, are there any purpose made games in UK out for this console at the moment other than normal 3DS games? I'm not saying these are the answers, but maybe this explains peoples doubts.

AU is PAL, so there is northing to worry about with regards to regions.

i will however point out this

' We are also not able to repair or modify products made for use in other countries.'

I've never had Nintendo hardware break on me. N64 still works fine. This looks a bargain and considering Nintendo UK are still trying to sell regular 3DS XL for £180 and the special editions for £200 I think this is a cracking deal and I'd go for it if cashflow wasn't a huge problem so close to xmas.

i don't see the price of this as high as a current 3ds is normally around 175 and often higher. Sure there are some exceptions like tesco direct have one at 150 but this is not much more than the best deals for the current model in most shops and you get it now at a competitive price for a stronger system. Specific games will slowly start to come but all games will benefit from the better 3d now and many already support the new control options

Very reasonable price compared to the current 3ds xl rrp.

What's different about it?

Never had a NES then? lol

RE the deal, I like it - heat given.

Anybody have an idea of what firmware this would ship with?

Why the hell would you be bothered about NTSC or PAL in this day and age and more importantly on a bloody hand held console?

Because the 3DS ain't region free

And what has that to do with a TV system the console doesn't use?

Maybe because you wouldn't want to buy a console that only plays ntsc/jp games when you live in a region that sells pal?

You're so right!

Any idea of online store compatability? Granted carts will work fine as both are PAL, but anyone know if it'll connect to our eshop or the Australian one? Also will it be possible to system transfer from a UK PAL machine to an Australian one?

ie would you need to create a new Nintendo Network ID (for those of us who would be upgrading rather than buying for the first time) rather than be able to tie it to the one you already have?

Edit - guessing it is identical to eu ones up to the point where you make/transfer the account, but I've not found anything on google that specifically mentions anything. Prob just being paranoid. :P

because NTSC and PAL isn't just used in old TV standards, it's used in all Video Games hardware and software. UK and Aus use PAL regional locking.

Orderede, thanks !!!

it ships with 9.0 e.
I actually bought one from 365 games, its comes via special delivery. I'll be honest tho if you don't move much during 3d gaming I don't really think its a worthy upgrade currently.
bad points, auto brightness is crude ( and be turned if in settings thankfully) back is glossy and feels slimly in the hands.

although I haven't transferred my Nintendo account to it, They are identical to UK ones,
if you go to profile on your existing 3ds you'll notice you can choose Australia as your location. likewise I can choose UK on my Australian new 3ds, once you do this the eshop is set up for that region.

You're so right!

technically Nintendo never refer to pal, or NTSC on their handheld console as the don't connect to a TV.
But most people refer to them as this, as Nintendo have region locked them based on this, But you will never find that info on the box

I got one of these when they were on sale for £170 and managed to flog my 2nd hand white 3ds XL for £130.

£40 is not a bad price for the upgrade Have some heat!

i need to hurry up and make my mind up,,

will the gateway card work with this, which now works on Firmware 9.0.0-20, 9.1.0-20J or 9.2.0-20, also does this affect the older roms, will they work on the newer firmware, thanks

9.0 -to 9.2 will work on gateway once they release the update, (should be soon)
no one knows if everything will work, or how it will work compare to 4.5 3ds.
but the gateway team have said do not update to 9.4 and new 3ds which are going to be sold in Europe will probably ship with 9.4

so you think its a good idea to get this one with the earlier firmware rather than wait and get the one that ships with 9.4,

I'd say its a safer bet, but their could be container loads of new 3ds with firmware 9.0 sat in a warehouse waiting for a official release

Hey guys I got one of these last week... it ships with a fairly recent firmware (since they added themes) and it works completely fine with the UK eshop all purchases transferred over flawlessly. For all intents and purposes it's just a British 3ds, but bought from another country

Extremely happy with it btw, the 3d is genuinely incredible now, and it has revitalised a good number of older titles for me. Currently playing through Kingdom Hearts

I take it the new thumstick works on all games

No only ones which support it.

Cold you can purchase a PS Vita with a 16GB and a few games for £130 with is a much more powerful system and better graphics no point paying £185 to play worse than N64 graphics

I've ordered one of these. I've just sold a special edition XL on Gumtree for £170, gone through Quidco for £9.85 cashback so it's cost just over a fiver to change.

I would call that a deal. Cheers...

Brilliant deal. HOOOOOOT!!

Sooooooo glad I waited..
zelda new 3dsxl!!!! Feb 13th!!!

Its not all about the power, its the motion in the ocean! Nintendo has the best rated games, and the ds/3ds have the top rated games of any console system handheld or other. Gaming.....is all about the games.
