This looks like it has had 10 euro's knocked off it today.

If you've got a credit card that's good for international payments (like the Halifax Clarity or similar) this can be had for roughly the headline price (dependant on exchange rate on or around the 13th - may even go a bit cheaper!).

Otherwise, you may end up paying a couple of quid/percent extra, so it's worth checking your card.

I think at the moment, this is by far the cheapest way of getting your hands on the new model 3ds xl on or extremely close to release day!

To be clear:

1) It's the PAL model so will work with UK games
2) It's in the European economic area, so no import duty will apply
3) It's likely to be in identical or very similar packaging to the UK model
4) No standard 3ds XL packages come with adaptors, so you don't need to worry about getting the right plug!

Enjoy!

Edit: To confirm: Nintendo basically state on their website that your 3DS will be covered by their UK warranty. They say they will NOT cover "the Product if it was purchased OUTSIDE the European Economic Area". This means that these units are fine & covered!

Edit 2: This has now fallen in price by a further couple of quid

I like the pre-emptive explanation, you've obviously trawled through too many needless questions in other Amazon EU threads :).

I would expect Amazon uk to come up with the same price

You can pay in GBP.

I would not. A large part of the discount is the currency exchange.

With the same discount % it would be £165.59 on Amazon UK.

Despite all the effort I put in trying to track down a majora's mask edition, it is hard to justify spending so much more for the same system. I am very tempted by this, and could probably get an additional game to boot.

Oh, really? How do you do that? I've just run through the checkout process a couple of times to see if I could figure out how, but am coming up blank. The help page on Amazon.co.uk makes it look like it should be simple, but no such luck...

You and me both!

I'm also starting to feel a bit jaded by the hunt. I have an order for this in now, but also have an order in for the MM model on the UK Amazon site. Not sure I want to keep the MM pre-order though, even if they do price match Gamestop at £209. It just feels like a bit of an insult compared to their Euro prices at this point!

...plus it should be purple.

You can't for preorders as they can't quote you a correct price, as the exchange rate will change, You will need to order one on the 13th to pay in GBP, Amazon's rate is worse than most banks though.

Edit, The non XL also had a 10 euro price reduction, making it £121.50

The N64 Cartridge was in gold though, so I appreciate it also being in gold in that respect. I have put an order in for this now just need to deliberate what to cancel, this + mm is £175ish so its £34 for a design, or to spend on a game.

If the XL versions had the SNES buttons, I'd bite. But for now I'll hold off - great deal though OP and nicely written up, so definitely have some heat.

U.K. Amazon is pretty rubbish why won't they price match?

Those SNES buttons...
If there was a White XL with SNES buttons I would be preordering right now.

the main reason i don't like the majora's mask new 3ds xl is that the game is pre installed. I want the cart. Plus I don't like that only the top is gold and the hinge is still black. I prefer the blue new 3ds xl with a copy of Majoras mask ltd edition.

Are UK Amazon even listing them? I've yet to see them [outwith opportunistic 3rd party sellers]

I'm tempted by price but think I'll keep hold of my monster hunter version preorder

HOW DO I PAY IN GBP I HAVE NO OPTION FOR IT

Goddamnit, I bought one. Have some heat!

A good point! To be honest, I think it's the hinge that most bothers me on the existing gold design. I'm kidding no-one though, I'd definitely buy one at the right price

Either way, I'm excited about the Majora's Mask remake. I'd sold my N64 on (like a fool) when it originally came out, so this'll be my first time playing through properly (I did get a bit of a go on a friends console at the time).

The blue model is the same price as the black one on Amazon.fr (in fact I'll add it to the title!). If you bought it, and a limited edition copy of the game, it'd come to about £180 I think!

the majoras mask edition is very disappointing.
its not completely golden like the link between words edition. its black at the inside like a normal black 3ds xl.

Because the price of the item in France is determined by the price of the Euro. Amazon UK don't use the Euro, obviously.

So many people on here just think that the price of one item in one country should be the same as the equivalent in pounds. It's not remotely that simple. Economies are giant, hulking beasts of a thing. To reduce it to 1 = 1 is way too simplistic. But it's so much easier just to say "rip off Britain!!!" etc.

I'm not saying you're doing that by the way, just commenting in general.

hot price, cheers op!

DAMN i had £153 game store credit and spent £100 on steam wallet lol... I maybe spend the other £50 and part ex my 3DS for the zelda or monster hunter 3DS XL, hmmmm??

Just a few questions for you:
1) Is it the PAL model and will work with UK games?
2) Is it in the European economic area, and will import duty will apply?
3) Is it likely to be in identical or very similar packaging to the UK model?
4) Does it come with a standard 3ds XL package adaptor, or do I need to worry about getting the right plug!?

If you look to see how closely it's worded to OP's list, I think it's meant to be some kind of joke. Poe's law, etc.

I wonder if it's possible to use the warranty on it in the UK? With all things electronic that are imported it's likely to be more of a problem if there's something wrong with the screen or if it just plain doesn't switch on when you get it.

im tempted to upgrade my original 3ds to this xl version but dunno if i should or get the normal xl when the prices drop to make room for this

Might as well get the new XL version if you really want to go XL.

I've got an XL already, but am thinking of going for the regular size New 3DS now. I've got it in my cart, just deciding whether I really should or not..

From what I've read on here, and around the internet, all European 3DS consoles have the same kind of warranty, and it will be serviced where it makes most sense. In terms of returns to Amazon, I imagine it would be much the same process. You can almost certainly handle it through the UK support based on what I've seen from other Hotukdeals users.

Here's a random link I found re: warranty just now:

forums.digitalspy.co.uk/sho…198

and here's a link to a post where floridatrouble talks about chatting with UK amazon customer services re an Amazon.it product:

Hope that's helpful

It's cheaper to pay in Euro as swapping to GBP adds in an Amazon exchange fee.

I did a bit more research (partially for my own peace of mind) and found a more relevant and recent thread discussing warranties through Nintendo on European products, so thought I would share it:

nintendolife.com/for…ing

Looks like there is no catch to me, just a favourable exchange rate stacking well with a bit of a local discount on Amazon.fr and some regional price differences.

Thanks! HEAT ADDED!

For returns you'd still have to go through Amazon France, right? I can imagine that being a lot of hassle if it arrived damaged.

purchased. good deal. thanks OP. heat!

Ah right, I thought you were saying you were going to upgrade anyway, so which to go for? etc. I don't use the 3D too much, but that's partly because it's a hassle to line up your head right the whole time. Apparently the new eye tracking helps a lot, so I'm prepared to give it a try. It even has infrared tracking for when you're in low light.
